    Lloret de Mar

Hi Chris, yeah, I would love to dive the Isles Medes, but since I have my kids with me, I won't have the luxury of driving up to Estartit. I'll be pretty much stuck around Lloret. I know it's touristy...I actually chose that for my children. Lot's of stuff for them to do. I just hope to...

    Lloret de Mar

I'm going, along with my kids, to Lloret for a week beginning this Saturday. What I'd like to have are opinions as to the diving there, along with any suggestions for a dive operator there. Thanks! Phil

    Diving in Scotland?

If you suffer from the cold and a semi-dry doesn't do the job, you can always take a drykilt class. Phil (Boyd clan descendant)

    OMS vs Halcyon

BigJetDriver, I was looking at the Oxycheq site for those valves you mentioned and didn't see them. I have a BWODWDI and they sound like a good idea. Where on the site should I look? Thanks! Phil

    Need help finding Apeks TX100

You can find them through several online dealers in the UK and Germany. I have a TX 100 myself and am planning to buy two more soon. Try www.simplyscuba.com in the UK or www.dive-discount.de in Germany. The German prices are a little better. I've used SimplyScuba several times and found...

balance, transpac II or OMS IQ

Sounds like a real dilemma! I use a Balance and like it very much. It packs well for travel and doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles I don't need. I would guess that you'll be happy with whichever of the three you choose. Phil

How many pounds of lift with a Balance get?

You'll be fine with the Balance. I dive one with a steel 15 liter, which is, I think, the equivalent of a lp104. It does have a hard pack and I've never had any sort of slippage or tank movement. Like theskull said, you will likely have to add a bit of weight, but you'll still be okay unless...

    Howdy y'all

Welcome to the board Fenrir. Hope you'll enjoy it here. I know for sure you'll enjoy Egypt. DandyDon, c'mon over and practice your Dutch. If a country boy from Illinois can learn it, so can a Texan. Phil

    Pro QD+ weights

My buddy dives a Pro QD+ and just uses regular block weights or shot. I do the same with my Balance. Phil

Japanese diver in Amsterdam seeks buddy

Hi H2D, I live just outside Amsterdam. You're gonna love the Red Sea. I went with some guys in January and it was wonderful. I can't think of any single, good-looking divers at the moment, but I'll keep my eyes open. Most of my buddies and I are attached. Why not join one of the dive...

Japanese diver in Amsterdam seeks buddy

Naw...my buddy and I were gone by about 1400. Had to work an evening shift. We're gonna go back on Tuesday around lunchtime, I think.

Japanese diver in Amsterdam seeks buddy

Hey El Orans, Just dove Monday in Vinkeveen. The water was very clear...10+ meters visability. And the monster snoek is back in the bus after his (her) winter in Florida. Phil

Japanese diver in Amsterdam seeks buddy

Hi Happy2dive. Welcome to the board There are quite a few divers from the Netherlands on the board. Several of us are also ex-pats, as well. Try a dive in Holland. The water is cold and dark, so you'll really appreciate the tropics! Regards, Phil

    I'm in Michigan

Sharm el Sheik is a good bet. Grab a flight from Detroit to your favorite European destination, then take a direct flight to Sharm. Egypt is as safe as any place for tourists. And the diving is wonderful. I was just there in January with some friends and we had a great time. Something to...

    last weekend...

Good story! Which sites did you dive? Pity I was in Slovenia all weekend. Seems like every time my club makes a run to Zeeland, I have to work. I enjoyed reading your account. Keep up the good work! Phil

    Quick dive near Barcelona?

Thanks Itziar! I've also heard that the Islas Medes were the best location along the Costa Brava. I am planning to drive down there for a long weekend in a couple of months. I'll have more of a look at the site you suggested. Perhaps I can get a dive in while there. Phil

    Quick dive near Barcelona?

Thanks again, DSK. It appears to be a little bit too expensive for a single dive, so I guess I'll skip the diving and just drink a lot of wine the night before instead. Phil

    Quick dive near Barcelona?

Thanks DSK...I almost screwed up the past weekend when I did an evening dive on Thursday, then remembered I had to fly to Prague on Friday. I finished my dive 24 1/2 hours before my flight. I'll be in Barcelona until early afternoon on Sunday, but I only have a chance to dive early Saturday...

    Quick dive near Barcelona?

I'll be in Barcelona Mid-May for a Saturday evening broadcast and am looking at the chance to get in a quick dive that morning. I'll fly in with the rest of the crew Friday evening, then start work Saturday at about noon. Any recommendations or suggestions? Thanks in advance! Phil
