I'm not recommending it, but the reason this can be tempting is that using a separate suit inflation bottle adds another (small) tank+reg to carry on dives when you're already feeling overburdened with crap. Trimix is a terrible suit gas though - helium is a noticeably poorer insulator than air.
That's a sexy beast. What kind of run time do you get? How powerful is that huge LED? Did you make that nice little display housing as well? Are those wirenuts in there lol?
They're good, they work, I have no FMCL experience but trusted peers who have dived both seem to strongly prefer the BMCL.
good to great
No. The wing is behind/above the BMCL.
No. You just unscrew the loop hoses from where they enter the head, lift the hose ends up and pour half a scrubber...
Realistically switching high flow QDs for BOV input is the same effort as switching regs. Either way there's going to be a few seconds of fussing where you can't breathe.
Good questions.
US Navy table 6 (the common hyperbaric recompression schedule) uses air breaks, perhaps that is based on data from some studies? Could be a starting point.
Isn't there precedence for similar breaks in administering long term medical oxygen - albeit on longer timescales and...
It's silly, but drain the tank and take the valve off if she's worried. Slap some masking tape over the tank neck to keep dirt out.
Not sure if your wife would be more or less concerned, but certainly shocked by the things that Florida cave divers routinely leave baking in the parking lot under...
What strobes do people like these days? I'm talking big bright strobes for marking locations or ascent lines on deep, dark, low-viz dives - not little flashers to put on your tank. Is there a sweetheart brand that everyone likes? Are the $300 options really three times better than the $100...
I write backup tables on pages in my wet notes in pencil, notebook stored in right pocket. I label each with a date and location and usually wrap the pencil's lanyard around the most recent page so it's easy to flip to. But I don't see a need for it to be as quick-draw as a wrist mount since...
Long shot but if anyone has a pair kicking around (no pun intended) or knows a source that has them in stock I'm very interested.
Only interested in green not any other colors.
Yeah I'm a heavy packer. It's always impressive to see some of the REALLY seasoned divers show up for a week-long trip with little more than 2 sets clothes and a few toiletries in a fanny pack, knowing exactly what they don't need.
The other factor is weight. If you're packing light it matters less but carry on bags generally don't have a weight limit like checked bags do. When you're traveling with a rebreather, multiple bailout regulators, cameras, lights, plus supporting equipment trying to minimize overweight checked...
