Tagging along, same ride in Sept.

Is diving with gauges only considered not a good idea? I learned that way and understand its a bit more conservative tha computers, but for a conservative rec diver are gauges ok?

OT question... Are electronic dive logs generally accepted by the dive industry (re-newbie here)? I would much prefer to keep records electronically, as long as they are accepted when I'm out on vacation.
