speed in itself is not important. Why I value speed of a fin is because the faster it can push me, the less effort I have to put in in general. Something like turbocharging a car. While it does increase the top end speed, it also increases economy. And when the amount of air I use is directly...
it was just a google search. I figured it was easier on me to do a quick search everywhere else and simply ask here so that I could ask further questions here on the opinions.
after a quick search: Gear / Accessories | Scuba Diving
it puts the Bio Fin WELL above the Jet Fin. Why do you prefer...
thanks for the welcomes everybody. I'm definitely interested in the cavern/cave diving. And most definitely plan on doing a good deal of that in the future. But I don't want to get too far ahead of myself right now. As excited as I am to get into all of these amazing dives/styles/specialties, I...
In my continuing quest to build my gear set... I'm looking at fins now. I've been reading a bunch of reviews and comparisons. It seems the Apollo Sports Bio-Fin Pro C-Series is the unanimous winner in them. What say you all here? Is it that simple here? I haven't found anything so simple. Should...
I'm from Huntington Beach. I'm well used to the water out there. I've been diving in Tulum and Cozumel already. They were beautiful
no. But the nitrox AOW class counts toward the nitrox card. So I figure it's a start on 2 important paths for me. 2 birds one stone lol
Economy is rough. Christmas shopping is breaking folks. It is a great deal. But I feel a month from now you'd have much better odds. I'd love to take it off your hands. But at 6'4" I don't think I'd fit it. And it'd be next week by the time I could afford it anyways
I've definitely noticed that. That's exactly my plan too. The deep and nav dives are 2 required of the 5, my 3rd will be enriched air, 4th dry suit, and 5th altitude. That's my plan at least. I live in Phoenix. So my dive options will likely be fairly limited locally. I figure I'd learn the dry...
I'm still in the Bahamas. Just got my OW cert like 8 hours ago. And as I was printing the temporary card, I was already asking about the AOW dives. I hope to have my AOW classes completed by summer. I've been getting my gear put together. I turned 29 last week. By 30 I hope to have a full set of...
was thinking the same. The newer version with dual lighting is only $899 brand new, warranty, etc. I'd expect this to get about $300-400. No offense OP
after a quick eBay search: Sealife DC 1200 | eBay
seems about right. If you consider the eBay fee, it's $30-40 less than that. So a little...
I've got a couple of the titanium Blue Tangs and really like them. They're identical to the Hydralloy other than the metal. The handle is rubberized so it doesn't slip. The absence of individual finger-grooves is a plus for glove use. It disassembles/assembles very quickly/easily. The sheath...
lmao. Well no wonder I never found it. ZephEr. Not ZephYr. Interesting. I'm assuming they went in at an angle on the early models and then from the end after changing the name. Nice detective work. t sure is an interesting piece, but I'm skeptical as to whether it holds any real value
I don't think it is the Zephyr/Submarex. I can't find any idea of what it is though. All the ones I've found, from the Submarex/Zephyr to the Cyklon all have the hose come in straight in the bottom of the tube, not angled into the side. I can't find anything like that and I searched for a while
cool presentation. Very impressive how the Assyrians managed to "dive" way back then

I was gonna say it'd be a cool way to have graphics to advertise a rental shop or a school... but I realized I was thinking aqua-dip lol. But that idea may not be a bad one for you guys with rental shops and schools. It'll be in all the diver pics and do a decent job of advertising somewhat subtly
yup. That's how I've done it with cars, bikes, guns, all my hobbies. I very much enjoy trying to find the best deals and build the best equipment for my needs and desires. Which is why I want to learn to work on all my own gear. I want to be able to tune and tweak everything I have. I love it...
the auction is over. I bought it for $238 including shipping. It seemed it would have cost me about $400-500 to piece together by what I found. I found the wing for $240, the plate for $90, the harness for $40, the pockets for about $60 on the pair. Then it all basically would have come down to...
Many of you probably know from my other threads that I'm just getting into this lifestyle seriously. I've been slowly amassing my gear one step at a time. I'm mostly aiming for used stuff that I can save money on until I get into stuff that I likely will have to pony up for new, like exposure...
