Dive Watch Displayed on Mini Scuba Tank?

Well since we've all been talking about this I ran out and got the battery replaced during lunch. I'm wearing it now :-)

What do you bring on a dive boat?

Okay so i've not done any dive's off a boat in cold water yet so I was wondering what do you bring with you on the boat? And I mean aside from your Gear that you get in the water with. The items that I can think of are: Towell/Blanket Sweater - Is that needed? Cooler for lunch Cooler for...

    Pony Tank

Can you post why you think that is a bad idea? I dont use the configuration and never really considered it, but assuming the pony is attached to the primary tank so cant be dropped, and the gas is engaged for the whole dive, why is it bad? My opinion would be that 19cf just is not enough gas...

Dive Watch Displayed on Mini Scuba Tank?

Well - Mine never really "Loosened" at all so unless I keep it really tight the shape of the strap holds the watch head away from my wrist. If I keep it loos then the weight of the watch head makes it constantly moving around my wrist. Also i'm not a completely "Hair Free" individual and i've...

    Pervasive Fallacy about Split Fins

Haha. I like those icons! You know - According to Einstines theory of relativity the ammount of energy an object has is based upon it's total mass. So technically if we used our fins for there peak energy output we should be able to convert themselves into pure energy launching ourselves...

    Pony Tank

I dont understand why you would say that. The buddy system is a good thing but it certainly is not infalible and it's limitations are highlighted fairly regularly with diving accidents all over the world. Buddy's are great but for me self reliance is more important. BTW - I'm NOT a self reliant...

Dive Watch Displayed on Mini Scuba Tank?

So what did you do just bring it into a jeweler and ask them to rig up that strap? or is that something that Citizen sells as an option? I hate the rubber strap so much that my watch has been sitting in the jewelry box for 6 month's with a dead battery and I just never get around to replacing it!

Dive Watch Displayed on Mini Scuba Tank?

Wow $30 on ebay! That makes me regret losing the tank from mine when I moved! Oh well. Maybe it will turn up. Great watch though I hate the rubber strap - Anybody know if you can get a different strap?

Let’s do the ten best scifi/fantasy series (can’t go with 5)

Without repeating a bunch of what's been put here I would mention a series by Allen Cole and Chris Bunch called "Sten". It was one of the first Sci-Fi space series that I read and I loved it. I liked the wheel of time books that everybody has been posting about, however I had to stop reading...

What gear should I purchase next?

I had actually looked at those to take on vacation. I wrote to the instructor who certified me for his opinion and he said "You might as well take a 3 liter soda bottle and blow some air into it at depth. It would be cheaper and just as effective". Suffice it to say I decided against that! I...

    Pervasive Fallacy about Split Fins

That's interesting because i'm a 280lb man, and was a competetive swimmer up until about 8 years ago yet I love my split fins. Maybe I should ditch them and use a paddle I did not realize that fins were the high heels of scuba diving......:mooner: . I find them easier to use than a paddle fin.

What gear should I purchase next?

Every local diver i've spoken with here dives with a pony and most boats/shops require them from what i'm told. It's pretty deep usually and heck, better safe than sorry! While i'm certainly not there yet I would rather not be fully dependant on a buddy. What do you mean by geting past AL80's...

What gear should I purchase next?

So far my diving experience has been limited to being a "Vacation Diver". I have all of the gear that I would need to dive in these conditions, and made sure that the gear that I purchased was suitable for cold water so I could use it near my home. I'm starting to get into the local diving near...

    Angry

I dont know how this retailer does things, however I know alot of online retailers are not always aware of inventory/backorder situations like this until they occur. Many of them are just "Order Processors" without there own stock on all of the items, they have it shipped directly from the...

What to do when you move?

If I were you I would check with the LDS. I call the guys at my LDS all the time about gear deals i've seen, prices being asked for used equiptment etc etc. and I always get good advice from them even if i'm not buying from them. I've even had the service guy at the shop get in the water with...

    Dive masters work for TIPS!

This is a wierd topic for me since I do not think that I am miserly or stingy when it comes to tipping. I do not think that anybody should ever feel "Obligated" to tip. A tip should be earned and not obligatory, just like any other form of bonus. If you pay $100 for a dive trip which includes...

    Too much Weight

I'm by no means a hugely experiences diver, but I remember when my wife and I got certified that she had extreme problems with boyancy control. This all stemmed from the fact that she was finning alot and would pop back to the top like a cork so the instructer kept dumping weights into her BCD...

Jet Fins in Warm recreational diving?

My wife and I both have SP twin Jet's. One set is black and one set is yellow. I noticed that in a pool the black ones sink, while the yellow float so I do not know if the color has anything to due with the characteristics of these fins. I believe they are also available in blue - maybe those...

    rent/own conundrum for wetsuit(s)

I own a 3mil for diving in the warmer climates. I had thought I would just rent wet suits when diving in warmer climates since it's unfortunately few and far between for me, then I smelled the rental gear. I bought one for that dive! luckily the shop I was in had one that fit me perfectly!
