Criminally negligent homicide?/Scuba Instructor Faces Charges (merged threads)

That's exactly how I remember my instructor training me and doing that drill with everyone else. He was literally up in my face during that exercise and during my ascent keeping eye contact. I know not everyone instructs the same way but I assure you he would have intervened if I was doing...

    any good catalogs

Who needs a catalog when you have :sblogo::jump013: I've learned so much being here and taking part in the community. Any gear I'm interested in or have questions about, I investigate on the boards.

Criminally negligent homicide?/Scuba Instructor Faces Charges (merged threads)

Ouch! Yes. She may be quite familiar with all the training and procedures in instructing...can probably teach all the basics and fundamentals with her eyes closed (no pun intended) but not a "certified instructor?" Case in point.

Criminally negligent homicide?/Scuba Instructor Faces Charges (merged threads)

Couldn't agree with you more. I mean nobody is here to judge this lady but this topic was initiated for discussion so I'm discussing it. No one knows the details we can only speculate. Yes, it may seem to give the industry a bad rap and some people interested in taking up the sport may second...

Criminally negligent homicide?/Scuba Instructor Faces Charges (merged threads)

Since when is it taught that way? or maybe he meant remove the regulator from mouth? Well, If the instructor was actually "supervising", I think she would notice no air bubbles escaping the students mouth. I mean it might be an accident, but I do believe it's negligent.

Any pros to having a black skirt?

I believe black skirts give you a crispier clearer view. It keeps light out that can create distracting glares. Photographers use them. A clear skirt to me gives no added peripheral view. If you believe that it does, will you still believe that after the silicone starts to mellow yellow...

    Stuart Cove's August 9th

RalphJr, you are so so lucky. I'm getting my girl interested in diving and we plan to dive Stuart Coves this January (I've already been there once) where she will get certified. I only hope she loves diving as much as I do.

Galileo Sol - Bulk or Bite?

Nooo my friend, I've drawn no comparison between Galileo and D9. Simply said I was looking into it and found I do not like the D9. It's cool looking and all...but I want meat & potatoes in a dive computer, and it looks like the Galileo may just be it. Amen right there! I think I'm sold. I...

    Stuart Cove's August 9th

I've been to Stuart Cove's, it was a great experience. I'm actually going there again in January so I'm going to overshoot you by like 5 months. You mentioned the Shark dive, exhilarating rush. Don't forget to look in the sand after the frenzy for shark teeth, you're bound to find some...

Really good customer service from Oceanic

If it wasn't for reading and hearing such great things about Oceanic and their customer support, I wouldn't be walking into my LDS tomorrow morning (say....9am) and purchasing a brand new Atom 2.0 dive computer. Of course the 40% off sale helps a bit too. If I have any problems with it...I...

Galileo Sol - Bulk or Bite?

I'm in the market for a new dive computer. Actually got awhile before I plan to buy one, however, I have yet to see the Galileo Sol in person. I read a bunch on it and its got great feedback from many divers using it. My question isn't geared toward performance but rather: Is it really as...

    ScubaPro Twin Jets (Black) Advice

Seeing as how you got those Twin Jets as a gift go ahead and give them a shot and see how well you like them. I hear good things about them, never tried them myself. No since spending unnecessary money on something else without first seeing how they work for you. Like Web Monkey said, go to...

    Wrist Compass Question

Doesn't make sense to get a solo wrist mount digital compass, unless it's a feature with your dive computer like the Suunto D6/D9 or Galileo Terra/Sol. Quite literally would be a waste of money. Go analog...high quality...get the SK-7. It has the best tilt potential I've seen.

Google diving into 3D mapping of oceans

"We know far more about the suface of Mars from a few weeks of radar surveying in orbit than we know of the bottom of the ocean after two centuries." Wow! :boings:Now isn't that something?

Which agencies have Solo Diver certification?

So what is the purpose for anyone interested in obtaining a solo diver certification? I mean I know it's not common practice to dive solo from what most (if not all) major agencies teach--but I figured so long as you're certified and you wish to dive solo...just dive solo. I could be wrong...
