    Fin Fleming series?

Just bought book 1 on kindle for 0.99, heading to Roatan shortly so something to read. If good I'll get the others in the series. Wife has Kindle Unltd and it's included. I enjoyed the Andrew Mayne "Underwater Investigation Unit" series, hopefully these are good too.

Trip Report Scuba Diving in Roatan - 4K HDR Video

Not trying to be rude here, but would you compliment a chef that made you a great tasting meal with "Your pots and pans are amazing"? The equipment is a tool, and while having appropriate equipment for the task at hand can make getting good results easier, the end result is still primarily down...

    Upgrade from Cressi Leonard

I decided to go from my Leonardo to the Deep 6 Excursion, also made the Excursion the default 1st DC for my kids as they graduate to having their own DC. First two kids got the Leonardo, #3 got a Tusa (same model that my wife already has), #4 got th D6 like mine. #5 will also get a D6 in a few...

Time for kids to turn money into bubbles

Half Moon Bay (West End), Roatan... Warm water, reefs at 5-30', easy place to learn with some great instructors and dive ops aplenty. Decent snorkeling in the bay over the reefs, ex-sail boat with rope swing to entertain the kids when not diving. My youngest learning to dive in 2019 when she...

    Scubapro mako on hydros pro

As mentioned, I believe there are at least 2 variations of the sheath. I would see if I could purchase the 'other' variation, then use the one with the holes mounted to the BCD, and the one without holes you can use when transporting the knife when not attached to the BCD. I have two sheaths...

    Ad's

Or 2FA/MFA (2-factor authentication/ multi-factor authentication). This forum supports it, as do a lot of websites. If available I use it where possible. That and a password manager so that I can try and use a different password for every website etc. without having to remember them all!

Cressi Commander, Oceanic Excursion, Scubapro Hydros Pro?

Can only speak on the Hydros Pro as that's what I have and the only BCD I've used other than renting a Cressi for the first few years/ 75 dives or so. If BP/W isn't your thing, and you know you don't want a jacket style, then the Hydros Pro is a great, albeit pricey option. Under the same...

    Torn Between Two Computers

OP> 5. Larger screen and excellent visibility is very important to me. I will not be wearing this device as a watch. My 58 year old eyes are not getting any better. Go big or go home! If forum members believe one screen or the other has better visibility, that would be important to me. I...

    Torn Between Two Computers

If the watch format isn't an issue, what about the Deep 6 Excursion? Doesn't it use the same or very similar algorithm as the Shearwaters? The savings can be put toward other dive gear, and it will become a good backup DC down the road. Just a thought.

    Planning first trip to Roatan

We have a place that is a few minutes walk from Sundowners/Sun Divers/Half Moon Bay. It's part of the Cocolobo buildings. We have 5 kids and the mid thru' oldest are allowed to walk in to town in the evening but we require them to stay on the main street. @KatieMac has given you some great...

TG photos, Show us what you shot.

Flooded the housing AND the camera? Or just flooded the camera? I have the TG-4 in Oly housing. Flooded the housing one time at 65' in Bali. The black silt got behind the O-ring between day 1 and 2 dives and I failed to properly clean it. Day 2 dive 1 and pictures started getting fuzzy...

Scubapro Hydros - does it handle enough weight?

As already mentioned, early models had a strap issue that has since been corrected. In normal use I don't believe weight is a concern. However I think you have to look at your real world usage. If you are boat diving and crew are frequently handling your gear, you have to consider how they...

TG photos, Show us what you shot.

None, that's the TG-4 on its own, not even in microscope mode or anything! We were at 100' and the DM knew which coral it was on from the earlier morning dive of another group. She found it and then waited patiently with my wife while I maneuvered to try and get a decent shot. While I was...

TG-4, Oly housing. Initially I started with the Sea&Sea YS-03 kit (tray, arm, strobe). Then I was able to get a kit from a forum member that included a tray, arms, couple of InonS2000's. When I pull the arms in it's still pretty compact, but they can be extended further out too. Here's what...

Some from earlier in 2019, also showing 'bigger stuff'!! My youngest daughter, 10 1/2 at the time, learning to dive! We have 5 kids, all divers. This is the second youngest checking out the turtle population. He dives with a slate and loves to ID everything he can find. Practically...

Here's a selection from Bali 2019. Didn't get to go diving last year unfortunately! We have booked for Roatan in July this year.

Ideas for small footprint compact camera setup?

+1 TG series for compact, and you don't have to worry about flooding your housing because the camera itself is waterproof. This also lends itself to being used without a housing for snorkeling, kayaking, SUP etc.

    Scubapro Hydros Pro Sizing

5' 9" 185lbs, completely comfortable in a medium diving with rash guard, diving with brand new 3mm suit, diving with new 3mm suit + 1.5mm vest. Never felt the need to size up. Also, those dives are with the full rig, not the minimal webbing option.

Recommend a strobe set for compact camera

I started digital photography with a Canon Powershot G3 so that I could learn photography. It had auto all the way through full manual. I have since had or own an Olympus E-500, Olympus XZ-1, and and Olympus E-5. I've got basic glass and mid-range glass for the SLR's. I can shoot manual, but...
