SCUBALAB? HAHHAHA, most biased p.o.s. reports ever. well, since scuba lab says so I'm goignt o go tell all those world record holding freedivers using longfins that they are using garbage and should go with a Avanti HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA yes yes, expensive Euro guns... impractical... yes...

Short and Fat/Long and Thin? Pony Tank Preferences

So you want a pony for diving solo? If you're buddy diving the pony concept becomes just wasted gear. your redundancy should be swimming near you. I use an AL30 slung like a stage for a solo diving bailout. seems to work fine.

Legend Lx supreme vs Mares Abyss

Between Mares and Aqualung I'll choose Aqualung every time. (Having owned & Dove various regs from both companies) if I ever went pack to purely recreational diving I'd be hunting for another conshelf :D

    Spearfishing

whoa. "interesting" advice for a Freedive Spearo. First off, Avanti ARE NOT FREEDIVING FINS. they are decent scuba and snorkling finds at best. A frameless mask is NOT needed, rather get any low volume mask that fits. Biller guns are heavy, clunky and non-hydrodynmic. fine for the slow...

    Narc Panic at depth

wow, some of you people really scare me. who certified you? WahWahs? they invented trimix for a reason. fact is anyone that wants to dive 165ft on air should have an understanding of the effects of narcosis.

    Narc Panic at depth

Narcosis is NOT an accident. you learn about it's effects before you are ever certified. So any dive below 100ft a diver should expect narcosis. excusing diving too deep as a narcosis iduced accident is shifting the blame and excusing DIVER ERROR. Opps! it was just Narcosis's fault, not...

    Narc Panic at depth

am I the only one troubled by all the "pat-on-the-back" posts here? Good job! you did well! you came out alive! some of you are missing the point! 145ft ON AIR! this dive became a statistic before a toe touched water. DUMB DUMB DUMB. you want to avoid massive narcosis? NO DEEP AIR!

Which BP/W BC is best for the advanced diver?

My DSS wing works just fine with my Halcyon Plate, oh, and my OMS Plate, Dive rite Plate.... See where this is going? Have owned Halcyon Wings, Diverite Wings, Oxycheq Wings, and now a DSS wing. I will buy DSS again. get's my vote.

    Best snorkel/fins to use snorkeling

HUH? have you ever worn freediving fins? I'd GLADY start in a pair! has nothing to do with going deep, but they have massive benifits in lateral travel as well. the trick is to get a SOFT pair. BAREFOOT? ONLY OFF A BOAT? wonderfull invention called sandles. you wear them to the...

    Puget Sound Hunting?

Why do you need to get certified? sorry, just a friendly poke at the scuba huntign crowd :D there are quite a few Pacific Northwest (mostly Canadain) freedive spearos on the forums attached to the site in my sig. I'm sure they are simmilar conditions, and most of the tips&tricks can be...

    suunto cobra

never had a problem with mine, put it through 2 summers teaching, and about 100 personal dives. I sold it and bought a vyper because I never used the air integrated features, and prefer wrist mounted computers. but it;s a good one.

How many dives did you have?

between 20-30. but then again it was in a bay that went 3m at high tide, so if there was a problem you could stand up and walk home :D 90% of my dives have been solo since then....

    Solo diving.. thoughts

Rendundant computers - there is no need. UNLESS you are using them for Deco diving. if you are recreational solo diver and you computer craps out you call the dive acend slowly. something as simple as a 15' mark on your line (reel) will tell you where to do your safety stop. shoot a bag, and...

    Solo diving.. thoughts

if you have to ask..... then you're not ready. 90% of my diving is solo, and I enjoy the experience over a buddy dive any day. I dive like Dr. Bill, large capacity single on my back, and an AL30 bailout slung like a stage. H-valves are redundant regs, NOT redundant gas supplies...

    The spearfishing process

we use a spike or a sharp stilletto type knife to "brain" the fish as soon as it's in our grasp. it;s not only ethical, but sensible as faster you still the fish the better chance you have of getting in on the stringer.

    Best snorkel/fins to use snorkeling

    1. a properly fitted, soft freediving fin will not be anymore likely to cramp your leg then a short, inefficient scubafin. the advantage of the Omer's or Sporasub's is the blades are remmoveable so you can "upgrade" down the road. 2. I have 1000's of hours on my freediving fins and have...
