I'll assume you are doing deep multi-gas technical dives... because carrying 2 SPG's while rec diving is like diving with a spare set of fins.... why?
unless you are going tech.... then why would you want to increase your points of failure?
I have a US4 sitting on the shelf that I could really use, but as it's not environmentally sealed I'm not keen on using it in the local 5C (41F) waters. I use a DS4 and love it, wondering if the Apeks dealers on here could tell me the process of ordering the parts for the lower end to Enviro...
I'll jump on his side, as I'm a repeat offender when it comes to watering plants beachside...
next time they get on your case, just turn around and give them the "cock-a-chopter"
works for me... ;)
I've been spearfishing and freediving all over the island for about 8yrs now. every year it gets worse. less fish, more closures, and in our specific case, more and more hate dockside. Fatass bubba line fisherman seems to love to tell us that we're the problem.
the saddest part is watching...
mmmmmm I love boxcrabs! Haddington is closed to ground fish year round. I freedive 100% of the time i'm up there, and when the tanks come off the guns come out ;)
I found a lot of rockscallops near blinkhorn a few years back...
nice vid! some amazing critters!
which setting are you guys using for macro stills? have some focus issues. dead center of the shot is in focus, but as you move out it's less and less sharp....
a secret spot near Port McNeil. kelp bed is the size of a soccer field and infested with huge Black rockfish and giant kelp greenling. great place to find shellfish too. Freediver's dream.
So I finally got my ZS3 and OEM case. wow is it ever tricky to hold steady in big thick gloves that we wear up here. so today I built this. $20 in parts and about 30mins with very basic hand tools. will give it a try tomorrow and see how it goes, mainly for freediving, but should work well...
I prefer may/june. you get to see the area before it's hammered by the summer sportfishing industry.
August is nice too, less viz, but tourists have mostly gone...
we've been going up there freediving&spearfishing for the last 4 years (twice a year). as said above, always a crap shoot.
