    Best snorkel/fins to use snorkeling

I see people pushing the scuba fins. invest in a freediving fin. honestly, how long can you stay at the surface for before you want to start diving? and once you leave the surface those little short scuba fins just arn;t going to cut it.

What is the oddest thing you've found on the bottom of the ocean?

has little or nothing to do with his ear drums. I have given many scuba divers a pinch at over 100ft on a breathhold and my ear drums are just fine. always amazes me how confused they look..... Strangest thing? hmm... that's a tough one.... going to go with a Full, unopened bottle of...

    Entanglement

not to come off as a complete ************, but the more I read posts like this the more I ask myself "WHO CERTIFIED YOU?" there is the wonderfull invention called a knife. you should ALWAYS have one while diving, it should be kept exceptionaly sharp, and be accessble by either hand. you...

Who Owns Items In Canadian Lakes

Diving for Profit in ontario is illegal unless you have a commercial diver's licence. (recreational scuba instruction excepted) this only applies if you want to sell what you salvage.

    Best snorkel/fins to use snorkeling

splitfins = garbage. toss them in the same pile as buddy-lines and spareAir. The Cressi Gara fins, the Omer Milenium, the SporaSub Dessaults; all very good entry level freediving/snorkling fins. a softer fin will be better if you anticipate a lot of surface swimming. A plain-jane J-tube...

    My freediving techniques and exercises

you don;t push it and you listen to your body. just because yesterday you were doing 2min 70ft dives doesn;t mean that you can do the same today. if you body tells you to go up at 1min you go. you don;t look at your watch and say, well, "i still have another minute before blackout". a...

    My freediving techniques and exercises

remember that time is NOT A FACTOR in preventing shallow water black out. the dive you did yesterday could knock you out today. NEVER EVER use a watch as a safety device.

what spear gun to buy? Marc Valintin?

have owned quite a few Mares Pnumos, never had one break, just didn;t like it as much as my banded guns, and the loss of power at depth (I hunt to 3atm in some spots). they are a high quality peice of kit. I know many people that love pnumos, they just don't "do it" for me.

what spear gun to buy? Marc Valintin?

only problem I have with Pnumos is I am usually hunting in remote areas or hard-to-get-service zones (Canada, Saudi Arabia). Pnumos are great when they are working, but one little o-ring goes and you;re hooped. where as a band gun can be fixed in the field with simple tools and some spare...

    R Weezle's worth it..Burrr

I love my Weasle Extreme+. the local lakes I dive all seem to be +4C (38F) @ 40ft. my lips go numb LONG before I feel the cold through my suit. I can get in a full tank comfortably w/o Argon. using the weasle boot/socks too. WARM!

what spear gun to buy? Marc Valintin?

you can usually find a JBL NW Special for $150-$200. I owned one fo these for 10yrs and it put more fish on the table then all my other guns combined, in 4 countries. great gun for the newbie. it's cheap, clunky, loud, slow, and ugly. but it has tons of power and you can't kill it.

what spear gun to buy? Marc Valintin?

We're using 75-90cm Euros, Riffe #B or #M, and the JBL NW Special with great sucess. low temps + depth = bad for pnumos. rails have a major impact on accuracy in longer euros, but most guns 75cm and smaller show littler or no advantage in such short ranges, of course, it does't hurt...

    Pony bottles VS stage bottles

still a SINGLE gas source. all it would take is a burst disk to go and you're hooped. and before someone cries "oh that will never happen", one went one my back just as I rolled off a boat. it;s loud, it's no fun, and I couldn't hear anything for quite some time.

    Pony bottles VS stage bottles

I used an AL40 slung like a Stage. a tank mounted pony is an entaglement hazzard and requires you remove your BC to manipulate it. a Stage-Style pony is very easy to manage. an H-valve isn't redundancy.
