    Weight pocket

I have a transplate with the pockets - I think I will orient them to the vertical position - that way they are horizontal when I dive instead of down, not sure if that is an option on the transpac...... I will post pics, when I make the change..... M

    St. Lawrence River temperature

Well in truth....we sat in the car with our hands on the vents blowing hot air during the SI...... We had to go in and do a weight check......it was buddy's first dive with a BP/W and we took 8 lbs off his belt for the second....... On the first dive he had to keep a lot of air in his...

Drysuit in Key West around New Years

My vote is still wetsuit with thick jacket for the boat......as was mentioned earlier deep dives without experience is not good with a drysuit....... As you said yourself water was nice in your 5 mil with hooded vest....... Just my thoughts.......M

    Choosing Tanks

Almost all you will find is Yoke AL80 as rentals - there are a few exceptions but not many...... In any event your weighting will be different as you are most likely divining in warm water vice 50-55 degree water..... I have many regs DIN for my local diving (my LPs have DIN valves) and a Yoke...

Drysuit in Key West around New Years

I am a fan of drysuit diving and own two......but it seems like a lot of extra effort to travel with it and the rock boots, probably larger fins and extra hose on the reg.... What is your wetsuit option? We dive 7 mils with hooded vests in 50 degree water up here....no risk of a ripped seal...

    Choosing Tanks

I know it is a bunch of of $$$$$.... It is worse if you first buy the AL80's and then later get steel tanks and the AL80's go unused......as my daughters AL63's did, she outgrew them quick.... M

    Choosing Tanks

If you can get good fills go with HP tanks.... LP-95 is an 8" diameter tank with a 42 lb empty weight......HP-100 is a 7.25" diameter and a 33 lb empty weight....both 24" tall I dive LP-95's myself (old fire department castoffs), I have massive tank envy on every shore entry......:) Once they...

    Choosing Tanks

Assuming you are diving local in Washington State, then you are cold water diving so you are either drysuit or thick wetsuit...... The 2400 psi tanks were low pressure steel....... I would go for a high pressure steel 100 with a combination DIN/K valve. Like a Worthington X7-100......they...

I think the hyperstretch is a better choice, due to better fit thanks to more stretch..... M

Harness comparisons: elite, elite 2, and transplate

I dive a transplate as my current cold water drysuit rig.... I changed from a simple harness because I wanted the buckles which make it easier for me to get out of when I am fully "under garmented" after a dive in 34 degree water....which works for me.... I did remove the chest strap as it...
