Lift Capacity Question: HOG 4.5ft SMB

Tortuga68..... So what is the "shallowest" you can deploy your DSMB and still get it fully inflated at the surface? Your location says Shanghai - I lived in PuDong from 2001 to 2003.....did my classroom stuff in Shanghai at the Aquarium and open waters in Saipan....:eyebrow: M

Lift Capacity Question: HOG 4.5ft SMB

g1138..... Not sure I follow.....it is hard to get any DSMB completely full of air at the surface unless you deploy it while very deep and then you get the benefit of massive air expansion....but your finger spool might not have enough line and there are issues (line fowling) with deploying...

Lift Capacity Question: HOG 4.5ft SMB

g1138...... Once you reach the surface, you just manually fill the DSMB the rest of the way with air, no matter how little air is in it when you shoot it from depth...... It is super easy to hold the base under the water and keep the inflated marker sticking straight up..... If this was...

Lift Capacity Question: HOG 4.5ft SMB

g1138... You could put bungee cords high on the right shoulder strap and keep you marker there.....curved a bit to match the curve of your shoulder.... Put the finger spool in one of the zippered pockets.... M

Lift Capacity Question: HOG 4.5ft SMB

Tortuga68... For a DSMB to provide any lift it needs to be submerged........you need to keep a certain amount of tension on it to have it stick out of the water......again I think a larger, fatter DSMB would be more upright and out of the water than a skinny shorter one.....once on the surface...

Lift Capacity Question: HOG 4.5ft SMB

So why would a smaller (less lift) DSMB be easier to deploy at depth? I think any DSMB would only be as buoyant as the amount of air you get in it before you release it.....so any large lift bag could be "just" 25 lbs of lift..... A longer "thinner" DSMB might be harder to get air into...

couv....are you 100% sure about Zeagle? This.... Octo-Z - Alternate Air / Accessories - Regulators - Zeagle Dive Systems Looks very similar to this...... Tabata USA, Inc. - NEW : IR-3 DUO-AIR [IR-3] Just my thoughts....M

    Where are these Regs made?

I think many of these guys are International and source stuff globally.....they may also shift production around..... In the end what is point/value of know where the stuff is made? Also components - hoses, fittings, screws, mouth pieces, etc... may come from all over...so a single point...

Learning to use a new dive computer

As a rec diver I would not recommend pushing your computer into deco by exceeding the NDL..... I have ACCIDENTALLY done it a few time while riding the edge of the NDL calc...easier to do on a Sunnto than others.....however this was after I had about 300 dives, using an HP 15L tank in the Med...

Learning to use a new dive computer

As you have an AI computer and will be using rental BCD/Reg, you will have a full set of gauges......so i would plan the dive using tables and learn the computer over your first few dives...... Going to eight feet in a pool will not do much other than turn on the display....you are just not...
