    Nitrox - What do you dive PO2 - 1.4, 1.5 or 1.6?

The old limit in the 1950s for ppO2 was 2 bar, with very few recorded incidents... I'd be interested to hear from any habitat divers getting on the O2 at 30ft what sort of experience/stories they have of oxygen seizures at that depth! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Ok, any one use this?

Nah snoopies are proper snoopies. The bungees are the knife attachment and lanyard if you're looking at the computer picture. There's excess on each bungee for easy transfer between wetsuit and drysuit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk ---------- Post added January 24th, 2015 at 06:02 PM...

Lost line, broken line. Restrictions can be in one direction. In the example I quoted above (12 inches high for 600ft) it's approximately 60ft wide. That's called a bedding plane. Rifts are the other way around, might be 12 inches wide but 60ft high. Loosing a line in these situations...

    Ok, any one use this?

So I got round to taking the pictures of my current set up a few minutes ago. Lower left arm, compass. Upper left arm, search reel. I've never noticed it get displaced to be honest but I do now see that is a vulnerability of this. Loss would be difficult as it would have to slide...

But the idea started somewhere. It's just been expanded upon. Hence the "was" in my original comment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Ratio Deco Lost Gas Planning

Ha I'd agree. Just trying to increase my understanding of gooers planning. Not try and actually dive like them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Ok, any one use this?

There was a design. Quite a rigid one when it was first invented. I'm at work at the moment so can't reference it straight away but it was developed by the CDG in the late 1950s which had quite a rigid training structure at the time. Before they side mounted OC they were side mounting CCR in...

    Ok, any one use this?

This is a picture from before one of my early dives. Quick run through is search reel upper right arm, compass lower right arm, computer lower left arm, knife upper left arm. Changed my ways since then and shall post detailed pictures of my current system later tonight. Much better. It's...

Mount the emergency spoil to your arm. It's how sidemount was designed to work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    I wanna do it all

If we're getting into agency bashing, may I suggest the CDG? The first cave dives done by its founders, oldest diving agency in the world (continuous since 1947) and has contributed miles and miles of new passage worldwide, which for an agency which at its peak has 200 members, punches way...

    Ratio Deco Lost Gas Planning

To be honest the majority of diving I do is entirely solo with 100% reserves in gas. That's why the buddy option didn't occur to me and the extra Al40 of deco gas did. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Ratio Deco Lost Gas Planning

Little question on lost gas planning for ratio deco. I'm fluent in metric but not so much in imperial, I'll try my best for you all, but I do not understand how american cylinders work. I dive to 45m (150ft) for 30mins. I now have 30mins deco to do. I ascend to 30m (100ft) and do 30second...

    Lung overexpansion

When is it okay to exceeding training limits?

I think the key here is exceeding is OK, but ensure you progress gradually with lots of consultation of others. I have a PADI rescue cert I earnt in Barbados, nothing else, yet I've dived to 80m in the dark and cold English Channel. But to reach this level it's taken me over 12 years of slowly...

How many of you really like to dive with a snorkel on your mask!!!

Funnily enough I can think of 3 cave dives within an hour of my location where it would range from moderately to highly useful.... Outweighed massively by the entanglement issue of course. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Versatile Sidemount Rig?

There's the Hollis one and multiple home built models. Without getting into cave specific models. I started sidemount on a farrworld harness. It was ok, but I've since made my own off the plans available on sump 4. But these aren't really open water systems. Out of all the open water...

Open Water Certification - 71 two days later

71s not old! Plenty of divers will be extremely willing to dive with you I'm sure. As stated earlier in the thread, divers tend to be more skeptical of the young then the more elderly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Berating an "Instructor" on a dive boat. How should I have handled differently?

No ring...no training to get a ring :P It's not as it sounds. UK cave diving doesn't work under official instruction you get a card at the end of. You do eventually get your membership upgraded from trainee to qualified. This might take a year or two. Though the additional benefits this brings...
