Thank you rhwestfall. Yep, a little different than the quarry! I did a lot of that when I lived in VA. I don't miss it. Have fun on the reef! I think you daugher is in for a treat!.
Thank you Craig. Cornetfish was a difficult one. We were on the deep side of Molasses, at about 55 feet, on the way back, reefman spotted the cornetfish, so I watched for a minute, and went down to 75 feet to try to get in front of it (did not really want to do that so late in the dive profile)...
Thank you sportxlh. Each time the shark passes I get 4 or 5 shots within strobe distance. I have the strobes set a 1/2 power (left/main) and 1/4 power (right/fill), so the recycle time is very fast (Ikelite 160 strobes).
Thank you Skeptic14. As for the sharks, it is a matter of observing their movements, intersecting their (anticipated) path, and waiting for them to approach. No chasing. Watch and wait. Also helps when we are using Steel HP 100 tanks and have about 100+ minutes on the dive.
Thank you scubaguy655. Patience is the key with the sharks. No chasing, just waiting in the right place. The most difficult part is not flashing the strobes too soon - you need to let the animal get as close as they want to get.
