It would make a great basic frame for a DIY full face mask--

How to do that pesky back finning thing

I used a mirror in a pool in the final tweakings of a DIY sidemount harness. I just bought a cheapo door mirror and propped it up sideways against the pool wall. Drooping soft weights across the top edge kept it from floating away, and lining more weights along the bottom edge kept the bottom...

    Accessing Pockets

Yep, that's what I've done too. Plus, I've moved everything I can out of my pockets-- spools are run in such a way that they shouldn't have any way to unspool, and so they now ride on the butt plate rails. Line markers stay on my light handle.

How to do that pesky back finning thing

It looks to me like your backward stroke shows some nice promise of propelling you backwards, your main trouble is in getting your fins back in position to do the next backward stroke-- to some degree you're doing the same kick you just did, but in reverse, so that you are losing the ground you...

Anyone using a Hollis wing on either a HOG or Dive Rite backplate?

Correct, those are Highland cam bands with the quick release. The webbing is standard 2".

Anyone using a Hollis wing on either a HOG or Dive Rite backplate?

On the backplate this is 7-3/8". On the wing, 7-3/4". The slots in the wing are 1/4" wider than those in the backplate so the small difference in spacing doesn't cause trouble. The spacing between the sex bolt holes and the slots also matches up between the two.

Anyone using a Hollis wing on either a HOG or Dive Rite backplate?

I have a Dive Rite aluminum back plate and the Hollis S25, the cam band slots line up just fine.

    Deep Diving Query

You also run through NDL time much quicker. And, if diving nitrox, the MOD becomes more and more of a concern. The reason depth starts to become a concern, is because so many reasons start piling up. The situation becomes more and more complicated, while at the same time narcosis deteriorates...

    Calling all Whites Fusion divers

One thing that's made a big difference in my struggles to get into my Fusion-- Armor All. I've spread it over all of the inner surfaces, but was careful not to touch the seals or valves with it. Since I did that I can slip into the suit no problem, it pulls on like a pair of pants.

    Ean30?

Thanks, it looks like your software is a little more convenient than my planning software for looking at NDL's... Just to be completely clear-- I haven't made any attempt above to tell people how they should dive, or made any blanket statement that you're gonna die if you first do a shallow...

On Island Trip Report Bonaire 20 Feb - 11 Mar

Absolutely! I'm going with my family in June, so I've been watching reports as the time gets closer. We'll actually be there the same time as the SB invasion-- I hope to meet some of the crew while we're out there.

You should dive as you choose, and plan your dives however much or however little you choose. There's no need to concern yourself with how I dive and plan if you don't feel like following the reasoning I use. My only intent was to point out to the OP that when planning repetitive dives...

    First regs for sidemount

I own a couple of HOG regs and dive them regularly in circumstances where I can't just immediately surface if there's a failure. I have no sense that they're any less reliable or lower performance than other regulators. I know a number of people diving either HOG or Dive Rite regs for very...

    Ean30?

No. You are using the wrong reasoning. If our whole goal was to limit exposure to nitrogen, we'd just stay out of the water. We don't, though, do we? We very deliberately expose ourselves to elevated pressures of nitrogen, and we plan ahead and then follow a dive profile accordingly to deal...

    Ean30?

Well shoot-- many ways to be wrong, but only one way to be right. If only you'd checked the SSI table! If you prefer using the navy table, then take a look at a first dive of 25 minutes, with a 1 hour surface interval before a second dive. Use 100 feet and 80 feet for the dive depths. I...

    Ean30?

Okay... Dive 1, 30 minutes, 80 feet, air. 1 hour surface interval. Dive 2, 60 feet, air. 36 minutes of residual nitrogen time apply, total time allowed within NDL is 14 minutes Contrast to: Dive 1, 30 minutes, 60 feet, air. 1 hour surface interval. Dive 2, 80 feet, air. 23 minutes of...

    Ean30?

Remember when it comes to staying within NDL's, you generally get more bottom time by doing your deeper dives first. So if you had two dives planned to the same actual depth, it's probably a better strategy to use the leaner mix first, since that has the effect of making it a deeper dive in...
