Not everyone thinks cave diving is the pinnacle of SCUBA!

I'd have to say that FNFALMan's comments come off more as "I can do whatever I want, however I want to, and don't care if I screw up everything for everyone else, and if you mess with me I've got a knife and I'll kill you." Nice... Since someone gearing up for a cave dive with a 6 "pig...

Paper to use our own diving tables

If prices in France are at all comparable with those in the US, you should be able to pick up a new laserjet for well under $100 US. I highly recommend the investment if you plan to depend on the printed tables to get you back up safely. If you print tables on an inkjet and laminate them, I...

I'm looking for scuba classes in Houston

Carl Griffing is an excellent instructor and can certify through NAUI. I believe his schedule may be booked through March, but I would certainly recommend you get in touch with him in case your own schedule's compatible. He's Phreatic Fanatic here on the board if you'd like to PM, or feel free...

Dangerous psychology- Diving beyond one's training

OMG-- please don't stir that hornet's nest up in this thread, this one has already taken enough corners way too hard.

    Just can't get Horizontal.

I was just checking out their website and saw a video they have there. http://youtu.be/If27XsfGx2M Check out the ascent starting at around 1:55. I don't mean to be a big buzz-kill, but does that seem a little quick? Hopefully everyone concerned is fully aware that a customer can embolize...

Dangerous psychology- Diving beyond one's training

Now that proves a point-- you don't even have to be in the water for those things to nearly kill you. Note to self: never challenge someone with doing the impossible, if it's the case that them accomplishing the impossible will result in a large chunk of metal careening around a room I inhabit.

Dangerous psychology- Diving beyond one's training

Yes-- Please pardon my somewhat lame attempt to lighten things up a little, now I feel a little guilty for poking fun at the expense of something that was really pretty well said, on top of being completely true IMHO. ...and by the way: little Timmy actually was down a well. I just left him...

Dangerous psychology- Diving beyond one's training

Heh-- it's like reading Nostradamus. I think it means either: Little Timmy fell down a well and we should get help, Wednesday's winning Lotto numbers are 6-15-23-36-39-44, or MSDT476614 should consider installing one of those breathalyzer locks on his keyboard.

Dangerous psychology- Diving beyond one's training

So, how is the issue resolved? Somewhere there's a line. The basic open water diver making the judgement call that he's probably okay going to 61 feet is on one side of it, Britton's unshakeable conviction that she's qualified to cave dive is on the other I'd say. We could take the laissez...

Dangerous psychology- Diving beyond one's training

Man, what is your point? Have you seen her video? Read her posts? If there's something you see that indicates anything other than the truth when people tell her that the dive she's doing isn't as safe as she's so sure of, that she needs training and equipment that's conspicuously absent...

Dangerous psychology- Diving beyond one's training

I want to say something in response to Britton's latest, but there's just nothing in me that comes to mind that seems like it would do any good in getting through. James, I really applaud you, if anyone here does anything that makes a difference it looks like it's going to be you. Maybe my...
