Problem with that is padi requires it as a cover your ass sorta deal. I dont disagree that the number of logged dives has no real bearing on a lot of peoples skills ha ha but i do what they tells me!
The padi online course is excelent if your self motivated and dont have the time/option to come to classroom lectures. You do the classroom part including quizes and knowlage reviews online. Then once your done all the chapters You come in where we go over it all and the final exam is given...
if your a padi instructor you can cross over to the other agencys usually in a day if its with another angency to padi you have to take the whole course
The best way is to upgrade! So if your an SSI (DM) take your padi AI or vis versa. Instead of paying to become the same thing your paying to move up a level.
The idea with waiting that many dives is to not task overload a new diver and let them gain more experence diving. New divers should be diving with more experenced buddies anyway! But if you are teabagging then your not gaining experence. Look into your shops we run PADI discover local diving...
PADI uses computers instead of tables now too. How it works is to go back to padi you have to take the next level up. So if your an sdi advanced diver it doesnt make you a padi advanced diver but would qulaify you to take your padi rescue diver. SDI is less regulated then padi so the level of...
I also had a student lose one of his weight pouches in about 40 feet of water so i managed to grab him and hold him down long enough for the dm to grab the pouch and me to re hook it
I over weight myself when teaching so if a student freaks and tries to use there bcd as an elevator i can grab hold of them and slow them/us down to a safe assent rate. It also helps when doing hovers and bouncy checks cause with beginners your holding onto them and if they add too much to there...
Its two clips so as long as you can reach the top of your foot its easy to dump. the bigger problem is unless you have "floaty feet" ankle weights tug you down in the water and make it harder for you to be streamline
My only comment is whats considered overweighted??? Usually for the first two open water dives i try and keep my students 4-6 lbs over weighted then on the second 2 dives i remove about half the weight and explain to them what Im doing. As an instructor i sit around 10 lbs over weighted myself...
Again I dont know, these guys do very highly planned dives sometimes with an hour-two hour plus deco so id assume there doing 10plus minute bottem times??
Remeber your talking to someone that doesnt know much and is just learning but how i was explained was you Sling 2 bottem gas then have your first 2 smaller deco-gasses slung then have your big 40% mix(I think is what they where talking about) on your back???? Does that make more sense??? I...
I usually bring my own dive buddy so either its the Girlfriend ( No i didnt make her take it, Yes i have to hold her hand sometimes) Or one of the 5-6 DM/Instructors I fratinize with. Usually when I'm stuck with newer divers or a dive buddy i havnt dove with before and the dive is straight...
you can do one on the back and then two on your sides or else the guys around here attach a small deco bottle to each sidemount tank. So they go in with 3 80s and then two i guess 40 somethings? I've just started my side/tec so I dont know much about it yet
