two things id recomond if possible. 1. Try before you buy, If your LDS has pool sessions or Discover Local diving trips try a few different gear set ups. Sometimes its not best to base your purchuse on pricing. 2. what kinda diving do u want to do? Cheaper bcds usualy are limited in there...
Well here for full sidemount gear not including tanks your look around 1600-1900 (hollis) with back mount not including tanks around 2400-2600(Hollis again)
ahhh yes but it voids warenty shipping across the border does it not? ha ha i don't think youll find that in your LDS for that cost? not at any of the ones around here that ive seen anyway!
I hate the name advanced open water diver. The course is called that becuase it "advances" your skills but it doesnt really make you an advanced diver IMO

is it a PADI AOW i missed that part? If its a PADI AOW Id recomond taking it...
I have three pairs of fins i use depending on my diving. A pair of v12 and a pair of v16 which i use in classes and open water dives that arent wrecks. I like them and find I can do flutter, frog and helicopter kick in them easily. Back finning is a little harder but if you find your rythem u...
i guess what im saying is you typical can rent tanks to use for your sidemount where BM you usually have to buy your own. And i guess if you can get a full manifold set/bands for less then 300 bucks our prices must be higher ha ha
Also the sms100 is only really ment for one tank on the back. U can rig it for 2 but it's not great. I like the SMS 100 as a beginner sm diver but that's mostly because I like the way it positions everything when I'm in my drysuit. When I'm in my 3/5mm it seems a little bulky but if you tighten...
I have no comment ha ha but that's how ive always figured it was ha ha maybe they only charge you ten to process and ship. I just figure it goes through 3 people the guy that enters it the guy that makes it and the guy that ships it so if it takes each of them 15 mins to do there job that's 5...
Exactly!! I work at a dive shop that's just developing our tec program and we have gone through dozens of gear selection in the last few months ha ha I know the numbers!!
for your average openwater diver thats not smart/motivated enough to research themselves the class gives them all the info they need to dive safley and it also teachs them how to adjust there cpy/table to account for usuing it. is it the best course out there no maybe not but its definatly...
i have a similar problem with my heels cracking and spliting. I always take my boots of between dives and try and slip them half inside out, the second thing i do is had medicated cream to stick on them as soon as there done diving, and the last thing i do is try and wear sandles or bare feet...
SM bcd is typically cheaper then wing/plate and like you mentioned manifold/bands then two or four tanks independently devoted to bm! I have pro valves on all my single back mount tanks so I can use them for either jacket bcd or sidemount config!
So let's say $80-100 on the bcd $300-600 on the...
thats true and if i was someplace warm I prolly wouldnt have gotten the SMS but its a nice set up for coldwater diving! Laid out nice and simple for when your in a drysuit with less flexibility! But i guess i should add that mine isnt exactly out of the box! lol thats the nice thing about...
PADI's tec sidemount course isnt in mass circulation right now. The course they had up till now was just a distinctive speciality but our store has been told within the next month books and videos should come out for there full course. The reason its taking so long is becuase PADI is new to...
Just for the record we do have several guys doing what you guys are talking about and they have come to the conclusion its not worth the extra task loading! I just leave my VT# in guage mood and do everything else manually
