I would say borow everything if you can, the dive school should be able to rent you most of the gear. Learn with this equipment and take the time to find out if you like SCUBA (hard to beleive but some people don't). So it makes good sense to try before you buy. Also at the begining you...

Stop, think and ask 4 grand !!! what are they selling him? Sure this sport can get pricey but 4k straight up sound way too much. Of course you could easily blow that on a couple of VR3's or as a down payment on a Gavin. But for a starting point it's way to much to pay for a first gear...

That is a question that I had asked, when I was reading US based mags that mention 2 tank dives. I had decided that it ment doubles, and I was cool with that, .. I just assumed that more people in the US dive with doubles.

I really liked the look of the Zeagles, and they looked quite minimal which I liked, less drag. But the rip cord put me off, and the pockets I found were hard to load or access. The zips seemed to be set the wrong way. But then each to their own, I ended up choosing a Halcyon MC System with...

Some good points there, I guess it would depend on the dive enviroment: shallow corals and warm weather : signing might be well received cave diving : may make it impossible, due to issue of space, light and task loading the both hands requirement might rule out night dives, unless we start...

While I agree with you about the answer being obvious ... some people still wonder why? It's these people that may want to be Instructers at 100dives and the many others that can tell them why not.

Sounds like a fun type of dive, it's on my list and will be trying to include it on my decompression training dives or leasure decompression dives. Man... I hate being stuck in the office!
