Since in open water diving you can come up any time you hit your NDLs or run low
on air all you have to do is keep an eye on those two things. You don't need a
plan anymore sophisticated than that so why bother? Sometimes my plans are as
simple as come up when I get cold, thirsty, run low on...
I do it almost every time. I call it treasure hunting. Usually it's nothing but beer cans but sometimes I find something good. Sometimes I find crayfish inside a bottle or can and I toss the aninal back in the lake but the can goes to the dump. I won't tolerate trash if it's not too big for me...
An air pump would be nice. I cancelled a trip there because there wasn't space for all the tanks we would have needed to carry. And getting fills from outside sources are inconvenient.
Always bring a torch if low vis is possible. It's not to see where you are going but so your buddy can keep track of you. Bigger is better but even a small AA torch is better than nothing.
