Isles of Shoals Seal Dive Charters

Reefseal, there are a few great camp sites up at the River. Let me know if you're interested in diving the Vickery. I have access to a boat and it's a great dive.

New Dive Charter Service in Maine

We're in Milo. I wasn't planning on scalloping this year with the boosted price but I'll plan to next year. What are you guys charging for a trip? Is there any wreck diving off Rockland?

New Dive Charter Service in Maine

Are you doing any scalloping or have the new restrictions ended it for the season?

Earliest dive with a 7mm suit (in Mass)

I dive year round with a 7mm Bare semi-dry. I agree with the good gloves and booties advice (I have an attached hood). I haven't tried the duct tape trick but I keep a thermos of warm water to pour into the mitts and boots before my second dive. The only risk is scalding my hands if the water's...

Help Fight Sea Lamprey in Lake Champlain

There's a big hagfish place in Gouldsboro, Maine. Slippery looking buggers. What kind of chemicals are being used in the elsewhere to control the lampreys? Also, I'd love to see a video of a lamprey attack. Not that I'm not taking this seriously but I keep thinking about an old SNL skit where...

    Drysuit and tanks FS

Have you sold the suit yet? I'm built wide but I weigh about 180 and am 5'6". Would it work for me?

    Scalloping questions?

Poe, I agree that three days would make the new fee worth it but I don't live close enough to the coast to get out regularly. Are there any other boats going out of Bar Harbor in February and March for scallops? As for the shore diving, I'm going to give it a shot in Passamaquoddy Bay in...

    Scalloping questions?

Up here in Maine is similar to SteveAD's description of Mass scallop diving. You hit the bottom around 50 feet or so, swim along and pick them up. I highly recommend trying it. I might do it this year but the recreational license went from 10 bucks a few years ago to 50 bucks this year. I don't...

GREAT news for the Spearfishing community

    And that's why I don't spearfish!

    Dacor regulators

I have a Dacor XL. I bought the reg used about ten years ago but I bought an XL octopus at Scubaventure in Sinking Spring, PA about two months after that. I love the reg, it has a cold water set-up, and I don't feel like buying a new one. Thanks for the hint about Diver's Cove. I don't know if...

    Dacor regulators

I know this might not be quite the correct place for this post, but has anyone out there had problems getting their Dacor regulators serviced? I heard that parts are getting harder to come by and I really like my reg and I don't want to change.

Favorite Place to Scuba Dive in the North East

Head for the Thousand Islands. Take the ferry to Bridgeport and then your trip will be about six hours. As for around Long Island, there used to be a pretty good dive shop near Port Jeff. It might still be there but I haven't been in that area for a long time. They had good information when I...

    Maine Scallop Diving

Please let us all know how we can help. The students at the school I teach at loved the dive-in theater. We'll make it a point to help them get their business going again.

    Maine Scallop Diving

I'm not feeling like driving all the way to the Piscataqua for good scallop diving. We've got good scalloping in the Penobscot Bay. I've been off of Rockland, ME and it was great. I'm thinking of heading over to the St. Croix and finding out what it's like off of Eastport or Robbinston. You only...

    Maine Scallop Diving

Is there anyone out there who would be interested in getting a charter together to go scalloping in Eastern mid-coast/downeast Maine? I also know where there is a scallop bed within shore diving limits. Let me know.

    Questions from the sunny Southwest

Yeah, I know all about the options of drysuits but it comes down to simplicity and guts. I've dove dry and I can't say I like all the extra stuff you need, like weights and inflator hoses and undergarments. Then your brand new suit leaks but the factory can't find the leak and you're out of 2...

    Questions from the sunny Southwest

You don't need a drysuit. 7mm works great and less expensive, too. If you get a chance, take a weekend trip to the 1000 Islands. The wrecks are plentiful and the scenery is great.

    Undiscovered Quarry...

We're in Milo and the ponds and rivers have a bit of ice on them already. The Piscataquis River in Dover-Foxcroft is frozen up river from the dam. I think it's supposed to be warmer tomorrow so we might lose the ice. I was hoping for some good pond hockey.

    Undiscovered Quarry...

Sounds cool. There's a quarry near us in Maine that I've been thinking about trying. We'll have to wait until spring now, though. We'll have ice on it before too long.

Cormorant UW encounter- Pics, Front Beach, Rockport, MA, 11/01/08.

I've always wanted to see a loon doing the same thing. I got close snorkeling once. Thanks for sharing. Your pictures are really cool.
