    Red Sea Exposure Suit April

The only good suit is a drysuit My gf gets cold in a 7mm after a few dives, she has to use gloves and a hood to avoid it. A shorty in April can be ok for a few shore dives but most people will freeze on a LOB like that.

    Indoor Diving Lake

Not that far from nemo33 we have Todi, you can check it at todi.be but it’s Dutch German or French. There are fish in a old mine building, because of that you can’t bring your own gear. Some people like it there, most go there once to have experienced it but won’t go back soon.

    My AN/DP/Helitrox course

Pools where drysuits are allowed are hard to find here that’s the reason we do everything in open water. Still the first or first few dives of a course are in a undeep sand quarry, the only difference with a pool is that it’s 5 degrees atm and the vis is like 2/3M mostly. So I don’t see the...

    Dropping a spool

i can’t imagine dropping it while holding it during a stop. If it’s a long stop I use a double ender. I did drop it once on the surface while putting it back into my pocket. It was clipped on the pocket loop but it did unwind.

    Going to twins, best way?

I guess the advantage of being taller is you don’t have to do it like that. When I have to take my sets to the LDS I take one in each hand, this way I’m in balance

    Dropping a spool

Plastic ones drop to, a little slower but they go down. In the movie below they explain a nice way to keep it safe without having line loose next to you. It works great. ps. The only reason I know is because people told me, I never dropped a spool :)

DIR, warm & cold water technical&cave diving/sidemount regulator

You can get the regulators oxygen cleaned, no need to get green ones. The regulators of your back gas shouldn’t be oxygen clean anyway, you will use 32% or less. As for the deco regulators everything works as long as they are oxygen clean. I have xtx 40’s and halcyon ones. I do prefer a swivel...

    Elphinstone Longimanus

Really nice to see, but didn’t you get a briefing how to act around them? almost every year there are a few incidents with longimanus, swimming/diving at the surface and turning your back to them isn’t to safe. Saw one bitting towards a diver that was getting in the zodiac a few months ago.

    Hybrid vs. BP/W vs. Jacket

The simple answer is something like a hybrid is more a jacket then a wing. If you want bp/w then go for it, you won’t regret it. It floats lovely at the surface as well.

    Thinking about going tec

I’m a real beginner but 64 minutes on a ppo2 of 0.79 doesn’t look like useful as deco.

FB posting - standards violations - how many can you pick out?

How can you be sure he didn’t have another bottle with him? I’m not saying that he looks like a diver that I would like to have as a buddy on those kind of dives, but calling someone out if you didn’t see everything is something you should be careful with. I remember the tail weight you posted...

    Air Integration & NDL Accuracy?

Let’s assume something happens at 40m, your buddy lost his gas. You will use more air in that situation, let’s say 30l/min x 5bar so 150l/min. Before you are ready to ascent you need 2 minutes to get ready, so 300liter. Since you have no deco gas you will have to make it to the surface. If you...

    How do you dive?

Where it was zoop and nemo before I swapped to a Perdix non ai, mainly for the visability in caves and because of the normoxic course. I use a bottom timer as back up, that option isn’t available to choose in the poll.

North or South, newish diver advice

We did see a shark bite towards a diver entering a Zodiac, luckily no one got injured. First thoughts was that the diver did misbehave. Then when we where back on the boat for a while a zodiac with the DM of a another boat from the same fleet came over. One of the DMs couldn’t get out of the...

North or South, newish diver advice

In 2017 I did do south/st. Johns. My gf and i did dive for 6 months when we did the LOB like 50 dives in total when it started. The dives where easy, shallow (apart from some wonderful drop offs) and no current. A lot of beautiful reefs and coral gardens. In 2018 we did do the north reef and...

End of 2019 and thoughts for 2020

It was a lovely year, with lots of fun dives! First dive of the year was at the first of January. The end op April there was a advanced nitrox course. In may my gf and I did meet with some friends in Germany to dive a beautiful very cold mountain lake. In June there was a week to France for...
