    Biggest Challenge

I don't understand why? Train them to respond to what they may face. If they find that easy then make them your best buddy going forward. Creating training scenarios to ridiculous extremes until they fail is just dumb.

    JJ vs Tiburon weight

Thanks for the detailed reply. I'm looking at switching from the Tiburon to a JJ but I heard the JJ's are quite heavy which is a concern when flying. I'm already near max weight when I go to a place where I have to bring my drysuit.

    JJ vs Tiburon weight

For flying purposes, what is the empty weight difference between a JJ and an ISC Tiburon? The JJ website says to expect around 20KG for that unit empty (seems high) and the ISC specs say 5 KG for the Tiburon empty (seems way low). No wings, backplate, etc.. Just the can and counter lungs.

Best global locations for rebreather diving

Dirty Dozen is CCR centric on the Master Liveaboards. I've been with them and really liked what they are doing so that's why I recommended them. Pete Mesely (Lust for Rust) also does a good job supporting CCRs from his land based trips. I've never been on the Odyssey and the people I know that...

Best global locations for rebreather diving

Galapagos-Dirty Dozen is doing CCR liveaboard trips. Vancouver Island- Depends where you go and who you know. Generally speaking you have to arrange sorb, O2, etc ahead of time. Grand Cayman- DiveTech.

Chuuk or Bikini with Dirty Dozen and Master Liveaboards checks off everything on the list including the DPV.

Nobody cares that your feelings are still hurt.

    what happened with George Irvine?

Your time would have better spent talking with George about Brett Gilliam. (OK, OK, I know it's probably not an appropriate reply these days but I know those that are missing the bad old days of techdiver, etc are loving it)

Trip Report Bikini Atoll (June 2023)

The trip I was on, the only diver who was by himself was buddied up with a DM. There were 2 or 3 DMs on every dive. Everyone else paired off within their group.

Trip Report Bikini Atoll (June 2023)

Nice write up. I see that things haven't changed flying back since I was there in June 2019. I think everyone had at least one of their bags left in Kwaj to Honolulu flight due to weight restrictions.

    O2 Cleaning

Did you clean the threads on the tank first? For all you know the previous owner could have been using vaseline on them.

What did you learn about CCR selection after ___X___hours?

Airplanes are piloted. In the air. Like submarines, RBs are dove, dived, etc. In the water.

Unfortunately there will never be an answer to how to prevent this.

Bozeman diver drowns attempting vehicle recovery - Montana

The last winter just ended a couple months ago in these parts. Sounds like someone was filling an airbag off an inflate hose from the reg they were breathing from and the first stage froze causing a freeflow.

    My hypoxic incident

Good point. At the time I wasn't shooting but I was packing up (folding lights in, etc) getting ready to storm the beach. If I didn't have the camera there is a very good chance that I would have been more attentive to my PO2. I agree that a huge danger on a CCR is shallow.
