    Split Fin Question

I have and use both. SP Jets and the split SP Twin Jets. I like them both for different reasons. The Jets give better thrust, which is a confined space or a heavy current really is nice to have. This is a drag car. The twin jets give easier cruising speed. For a calm water open swim is...

    Aquarium Diving

Aquarium dives should not be considered destination dives, but more of a really cool local opportunity. The less than 2 hour drive to Atlanta was well worth it to dive in the GA Aquarium. The experience isn't needed to do multiple times but as a check that off the list it's pretty cool.

    BC for petite woman

I wouldn't think that in a properly fitted bp/ w that she would need much if any weight at all. Technically, a properly fitted kit doesn't need extra weight, but pockets come in all shapes and sizes. That the beauty of the set up, totally adaptable.

Question about using a lift bag for redundant buoancy

Lift bags work as a redundant buoyancy device. I would suggest getting your weighting right first. In a properly weighted bp/w set up you can swim it up. Doubles are a little harder to get right but still capable. Not much lift is necessary, so this skill is not difficult to master. I have...

    Ok I did it

There is nothing wrong with your choice. You have also received good advice and input here already. My only point is that I see many people making the statement, "this will be a good first..." ---------- Post added March 20th, 2014 at 12:02 AM ---------- That got cut off. So my follow...

    Diving Compass

Ok, two things... 2) I made my way through the various ways to stow my compass (sk7) and I have settled on my current configuration the longest way around. I wear a DSS boot bungee on my wrist. If precision is needed I can slide it forward over my thumb and close my fist around the bungee...

Changing Apeks XTX 50 from yoke to DIN?

I keep the apeks din to yoke adapter in my travel box. I believe that it's easier to carry than tools and small parts. I will not use the yoke on my tanks. Just rentals, and I won't know what I need until I am checking my tanks. It's just too convenient to screw it on, and install regs on...

Sunnto Vyper vs Zoop Part 2

I dive viper air primary with zoop as a back up when traveling. Zoop doesn't go into gauge mode. Vyper does. My experience is now that more features than you want/ need are a good thing. Let's you grow into the tool as a diver instead of outgrowing the tool. Given my current path, I'm...

Changing Apeks XTX 50 from yoke to DIN?

Drowned rats flailing around showing off with their expensive shiny gear. Damn those people that buy a balanced smooth breathing reg set when they could have saved some money. Ok, back to the OP. Lots of lovely, witty internet banter has been pushed around here. Of course my favorites are...

Changing Apeks XTX 50 from yoke to DIN?

I wear mechanix wear gloves instead of the dive gloves that don't last. I wear chuck taylors instead of much more expensive dive boots that aren't as comfortable or any better performing. The webbing that is on my harness doesn't have a name brand. The parts that go in my gas supply, will...

Key blanks? What's wrong with your RF transmitter? ---------- Post added March 7th, 2014 at 10:29 PM ---------- And I'm assuming that you have never seen a less expensive, non branded part built to "standard specs" have sub par tolerances. I'll spend the extra $45 for my personal gas...

Changing Apeks XTX 50 from yoke to DIN?

I only know that the apeks works well. I also know that for less than $100 to convert with factory parts I wouldn't risk my personal breathing gas supply by not using factory parts. Call me crazy.
