    Recommend your mask!

Agree with the previous posts; go out and try some as everyone's face is different. FYI, I like my Cressi-Sub Matrix mask. Previous mask was a Mares X-Vision which fit well, but somehow got a crack in the frame.

Staying warm during SI in a wetsuit

This thread may prove useful: Dive Jackets I would also recommend hand warmers and thermoses (thermi?) with coffee, hot chocolate and soup.

NW CT diving spots for a newbie

He means Portland. It's been open during select weekends (do a search in this forum for 'Brownstone'), and will officially open full time next year. PM Frank Hayes for exact times and dates.

NW CT diving spots for a newbie

Well, you may want to ask Scubasarus first, as I believe he's dove most of the waterbodies in our state. You can contact the town, which may be a crap shoot; same with the DEP.

One piece harness question for PB&W

I've also seen it suggested to mark your harness (paint pen) so you won't have to guess when adjusting back and forth.

First images of a living giant squid

Peer review? They still do that? What happened to the good old days of making a 'discovery,' then releasing the news before verification (cold fusion, anybody?) ;)

NW CT diving spots for a newbie

Good question. Last I heard, the town was figuring out where exactly they would allow divers to enter, as they apparently have stopped allowing entry from the boat dock and beach area. Haven't heard anything about it lately, so it may have changed. PM ctmax, as he lives near West Hill Lake...

First images of a living giant squid

Anyone know why it took a year to release photos/report their findings? I understand the need to verify your findings before releasing to the media and world what you have, but with photos and a piece of the squid, I would think that it wouldn't take that long to get the word out.

Old School VS. New School Concerts

Different technology, same human tendencies. Instant communication, yes, but a lot more media coverage and political spin on things. By the way, big Green Day fan. Fan since they put out 'Dookie' back in 1994.

Do you have a minimum viz or temp for a dive?

For me, it kinda depends on the circumstance. If I know beforehand that the site I want to dive at is below 5' vis and or below 50 deg (7mm wetsuit), I'll probably make alternate plans. If I get to the site and then discover less than ideal conditions, I'll wade right in, just to go...

    taking wallet underwater ?

Question: have you (or anyone else you know) actually tried using this while diving? I ask this because under the product description it states "Seals out water, sand and dust for above surface use"

    taking wallet underwater ?

I usually shore dive, and lock everything in my car (hiding it, of course) then keep a copy of my car key on cave line around my neck. Never had a problem, but I haven't dove in any secluded places, either. One precaution, though. Keys with an electronic chip are not suitable for diving...
