What Would Make You By From A Local Dive Shop?

Hi Nick, I would contact Larry at scubatoys.com for indepth info on LDS/online sales. They seem to have the business model down, and they are authorized dealers for the equipment they sell. Personally, competitive pricing (not necessarily beating online), as well as good customer service, plus...

    wetsuits during winter months

He's describing how to make a cheapo, but effective 7mm hooded vest you can wear over your one piece. BTW, when diving in the cold months, it's not necessarily the water temp that's a killer; it's the air temp when you get out.

Sat or Sunday for Ft Wetherill

I think that link is as close as you'll get for Narr. Bay from the National Weather Service. I use it occaisionally, and it covers from Watch Hill up to Mass. Too bad you missed out on diving there last Sat.; light breeze, full sun and as close to glass-like water as I've seen there. Gidds...

60 feet how close did you stay to the limit

I think I went down to 90 feet on dive #4 after certification (on purpose). I felt comfortable/confident, and besides, that's where the reef was! IMO, the 60 foot OW depth is more of a guideline/suggestion than any kind of limit. Besides, I know a bunch of very experienced divers (1000+...

    SpyderCo has a winner

Hi Joyce, and welcome! Since you're asking, I would like to see a knife of H1 steel, designed like one of your competitor's blades:http://www.uwkinetics.com/D_BlueTangH.htm Specifically with a blunted end. I need a knife more for a digging/rock-poking tool, rather than a point. Maybe a...

Greenpeace ship damages reef in Tubbataha

How can my buddy identify me?

You can get a paint pen to mark the bottom of your fins and other parts of your equipment. I think I got mine from Leisurepro, but it's available in a lot of places. It doesn't come off all that easily, and at most, just do some touch ups. I would recommend that you mark the blade part of your...

Newly serviced regs break on third dive

Personally? No. To other people? Occaisonally. Did you put the regs on a tank to test them before you left the shop? I do that, just for reassurance on my part. Are they fixing it for free?
