Do i Have To Wait For C-Card

You should have gotten a temp card from your LDS. If not, just ask. You can rent/purchase stuff from your LDS anyway. I've never been carded from other places when buying stuff, anyway. It takes a couple of weeks for C-cards to come in, but they are normally sent to your instructor, who should...

    Do pool dives count?

It's all up to you if you want to log them. However, if you go on vacation and go with someone who requires a looksee at your log, they might not be too impressed with a ton of logged pool dives. Personally, I use my log as a personal dive diary, of sorts. What kind of work are you doing in...

    Spotting Man-o-war

You are correct on both counts. Vinegar on Man O' War stings can make it worse. Use fresh or salt water. Normal jellies (Man O' War not a normal jelly) can get the vinegar/meat tenderizer treatment.

    Shore dives in Jamestown?

Here's the link off of the MIT scuba site with pics and directions: Ft. Wetherill Plenty of life there, including: Striper bass, tautog, porgies, lobstah, blue and spider crabs, torpedo rays, Northern Barracuda (Sennet - recently spotted), jellies (not sure if that's really a plus), squid...

    I have a stupid question..

After struggling to get on a wetsuit that's not quite sized for you, you may opt to buy one fitted for you. And just for the record, I wear a Jammer swimsuit (kinda like biking shorts) under a wetsuit.

fight with girlfriend over dive safety.....

I wrote that part because one of my mountain biking buddies also had a gf who mt. biked. He kept nagging her about getting the "latest and greatest" to the point where she gave up biking all together and took up swimming. They were a bit dysfunctional and she was spiteful, but it happened. Just...

fight with girlfriend over dive safety.....

Well, those are the typical examples doled out about controlling a relationship, but what she's probably hearing is, "i don't want you to plan a dive that I wouldn't approve of." That's control. Like posted earlier, you're lucky your gf shares an interest in diving with you, but if yo're not...

    Freedom Fins

Well, at the risk of sounding snobby, that website seems like an example of talking a lot, but saying nothing. It lays out a lot of claims, but doesn't back it with anything. Also not a good sign that it seems that it hasn't been updated in a year, and the links for the movies don't work...

Army Researcher looking for underwater computer-like device

Thread's a bit old (over 3 years); and apparently she didn't find what she was looking for at SB.

    Places to dive in Connecticut

Hi Brent, I'm from Bristol as well. Welcome! Scubasarus pointed out some good spots. You should also know that the Portland Quarries have just been okayed by the town to be developed into a dive park. Good diving and people. Check out the NELD forums for updates about when they're open for...

    College Preparations.

Bring hats for those mornings when all you have time to do is get dressed in whatever's closest to you and no time to wash up. A good coffee mug or 2. (remember to wash out every so often). Duct tape. Couple of lamps. Reliable alarm clock.

    Comb jellies?

Here's a pic of a lion's mane (obviously small one) eating a comb jelly.

    Comb jellies?

What are the populations of lion's mane jellies out there like? I know from research projects over this way that the Niantic River is a favored breeding ground for lion's mane, and they feast on all the comb jellies.

    Potentially Embarassing Fitness Question

Well, sure it would! It would make your legs work harder, make your heartrate increase and help make your body work harder to maintain balance (as we all know, balance skill is good when walking suited up for a shore dive).

    Back inflation and beach diving

You should ask him for reasons why he thinks BI is hard to snorkel in. Like posted earlier, the bladder is on your back, and you'll be under it. Heck, swimming on your back in a BI is easy, too.

    Basic Gear Care for Newbies?

That just about cover 95% of the gear care advice you need. Other suggestions include: Inspecting hoses and hose connection points for cracking/corrosion (check under those hose protectors!) Inflate your BC about twice a year or so, and leave overnight. If it loses air, you might need some...
