That's easy: Because I'm new and don't have anybody else to dive with yet. And these guys are cool enough to dive with me. We didn't do anything I haven't done before, except the ascent, and I've learned quite a bit from them on just the two dives I've done with them so far.

I say, "it depends." See my post above. Sounds like the original poster handled the situation OK, and learned something, too. When was your first night dive? How many dives before someone's "ready?"

My 6th dive was a night dive, and it was a great experience. I was with an extremely experienced diver, however, who never would have done the crap described in the original post.

I'm about half way through this one, and it's good reading. I'm a beginer, and reading about what's gone wrong for other people, and the mistakes they've made, is quite educational for me. I hope it makes me a safer diver.
