How much does it bother you?

That strategy could backfire.....he might just start doing it! I just can't figure the really sincere "do-gooder" types out. I still call my wife after every dive to let her know I survived again, however. She worries. I mostly don't feel much when I hear about dive accidents- I haven't had...

    Do you like diving?

"Like" Diving? Yeah, sure. Well, actually, I love everything about it. The whole process is amazing and wonderfull to me- I love the gear, the challenge, the feeling of just plain being underwater! All the neat critters are a bonus.

What % of technical divers do we have

I checked "yes, etc", but I consider myself a pretender so far- I took Advanced Eanx and Decompression through TDI in January, and I've made a few such dives since then; and I will be taking Trimix as soon as I recover from the mad gear buying binge I went on prior to those classes. I started...

    From PADI to SDI-TDI

I certified through rescue with PADI, then took Advanced EANX and Deco through TDI. My main reason for this was that I liked and trusted the TDI instructor. I have since met a Tec- Rec (PADI) instructor that I would consider taking training from, but for me, it's all about who's teaching the...

    Left post problem

That's been my experience, too- once I get a landing party on the valve to secure the beach, I can move the other troops in to finish the job, so to speak! Have fun in Kona, Rick!

    Left post problem

My first drysuit was baggy, but it had a problem with the undergarment that was supplied with it- the undergarment would practically weld itself to the drysuit, and adding air didn't help much, especially in the legs. I went to a one piece fleece-type u.g., and all of a sudden, I could move. The...

    Left post problem

Valve drills are tough for me, but I can do them- I don't know if this will help, but: What works best for me is to reach down and hike up my rig as high as I can, hook two fingers of one hand under the manifold to hold it there, and then I can reach my valves fairly easilly. I do dive the...

Why did you start diving doubles?

I started diving doubles so that I could start tech diving. I really like having the ability to isolate my gas supply in the event of a regulator failure, failed O ring, or blown burst disk. Not likely to happen, but I think in terms of "worst case" scenarios a lot. I love how they feel in...

How long before you started diving doubles?

I started diving a BP/W at dive 5, and doubles around 100. From dive 50 to 100, I had a 40 cf pony slung "cave style" off my left side on the D rings, for redundant air. I love my twin LP 95's, and I don't think I'll ever dive single tank again.

    Deep water/deco diving courses?

Well, yeah, there's a lot of ways to get into tech. The first step is usually Advanced Nitrox, which is commonly taught in conjunction with Decompression Procedures. This level, which I'm currently certified in, isn't really about going deep, it's about bottom time, learning how to dive with a...

Just bought suit, how do you get this thing on???

I wish I'd read this before I tried donning my first drysuit. I think this ought to be stickeyed!

    Deep Diving

Tech diving is growing as an industry. Whether that's good or bad remains to be seen. There are plenty of people out there with OW/ AOW certs who shouldn't really have them, just as there are plenty of people out there with driver's licenses who probably shouldn't have them. I have no data to...

    Pre-dive check list?

I think Captndale has pretty much nailed it. I would put extra emphasis on checking that your buoyancy(BC and Drysuit, where applicable) is hooked up and air turned on. That can kill you in a hurry, and it's pretty easy to forget.

    New computer?

I just scored what I think may be the last HE anywhere- they had one sitting on a shelf in the back of my LDS. Got a great price on it, too!:D The new critter sounds interesting. How 'bout calling it the "OCCR"? Or the "CCROC?"

Does diving make your marriage better?

I couldn't have phrased it better. Plus, my wife's my best friend; diving's not for her, but she's happy that I'm happy. I'm a lucky guy.:D

    Dive Rite NiTek Plus Computer

That's good to hear. I just bought the last HE I could find anywhere- they had one in the back room at my LDS. I snatched it up for a great price- can't wait to dive it!

    Dry Suit or Tanks

Drysuit, hands down. Spend some dough and get a good one. Look for used tanks on Craigslist after that.

How deep have you gone and why ?

Really? 110? It's funny, but I've been way more narced at 90 than I have been at 130+. But that was situation dependant, I suppose- if the same conditions occured at deeper depths, I guess I would have been that much more narced. (night dive, poor vis, equipment issues, buddy stress, etc. That...

How deep have you gone and why ?

Absolutely. (For the record, I did have a 40 cf pony slung, but, yes, it was still dumb.)

    Computers

Thanks, guys. Wow- I feel dumb- I never noticed that there was a "parent" forum above this one for general tech. Oh, well, I trust wreck divers more than the average tech guy, anyway.:14: Thanks for your input. I'm still leaning towards the VR-3, at least in part because I hope to be diving...
