    Hood Specs

I can't believe they only last that long as little as you dive NWGD..... LOL I like the whites 7/5 non zip myself. I also have a 7/5/3 zip, but I don't usually use the zip anyway. I the 5mm around the chin for the flexibility around the mouth, (little less jaw fatigue)IMO. To each there own. DP

    Crabbing and Diving

Kinda like catching crawdads. Pretty easy really, if you dive with a really fast get away boat. you dive by other crab pots and pick the best ones. Just kidding. I don't really go for crab, but when the time arises and I have a bag...... something about a fresh crab salad.

    Davey Jones' locker

I'm not sure how this will be recieved, but here goes. I've started a new micro SB that is accessable via my website. It is directed to Central Oregon diver's, but since we dive primaraly in the Sound/Canal when we want to get salty, I figured maybe expand out to possibly those of you from up...

Diving ghost town in Lake Roosevelt??

Now this is not involving lake Rosevelt, but another town rumored to be in lake Billy Chinook. It is rumored that in the Deschuttes river arm of Billy there was a town that was submerged when the damn was built. I have heard that it may be beyond the last boat ramp on the Deschuttes river arm. I...

Tricks and Tips that Save Pennies

I NEVER said it was mandatory, nor did I say every instructor will teach you anything. I also, on my way to becoming an instructor have taken courses from instructor's that I'd put to shame one on one, but they have the means to get me the card that allows me to "ADVANCE" Did I learn aqnything...

Tricks and Tips that Save Pennies

I guess if I were in her neck of the woods it may do me some good, but considering there are MANY miles between us it would not benefit me at all to talk her into an AOW course. As for the chamber/ambulance, yes you are correct, MANY diver's never take a ride in either, but some advancing...

What did you buy that you regret?

An AL LPO is a useless pos in cold water. I say POS because it breaths like a terd in cold water.

Tricks and Tips that Save Pennies

From the looks of thing's, the people you are getting advice from have a maximum of 199 dives. It would seem that if you wanted to save some money, you would not listen to a few of them, and get yourself some further training! One trip to a chamber would cost a heck of alot more than any AOW...

    Figuring weights for freshwater?

This would probably work, that is if she can hold her breath for an hour.:rofl3: With an al80 the buoyancy characteristic's would create an issue at her safety stop. In a perfect world, 9.25 lbs should do the trick. So again, IMO 15lbs. would be a good starting point. Joe

Do you dive with a radio? Should I?

RELAX!!! Scuba is to be fun, not a stressor. Learn some key navigational skills and don't get yourself lost. Again, relax and have a good time! Joe

    Figuring weights for freshwater?

Standard guidlines would be, 5% of her body weight in saltwater - 7-8 lbs. for the freshwater + 5lbs. for the al 80. for a total of 10.25 lbs. But, my guess would be somewhere around 15-20 lbs. depending on her comfort in the water. But in the end she should be somewher around 10-12 lbs...

    Oceanic EOS

Well, it seems to work, but is basically a patch for an issue that needs attention. I will keep on the guys at Oceanic and hopefully they will come up with a fix to the loose knob. Joe

    Setting up new regs...

First off, PADI doesn't have a tech class, the gear specialty gives a very brief understanding of how your gear works, NOT how to service it, but how you should maintain it for prolonged life. So, as far as a PADI gear specialty, YOUR RIGHT, it doesn't mean a whole lot for a service tech status...

    Setting up new regs...

After reading the original post again, I still missed the part where he asked which tools to, or not to use. He merely asked if he could put the components together himself. So, without knowing him personally, and knowing his mechanical skills. I guess the first reply should have been, "not...

    Setting up new regs...

I don't remember reading anywhere anybody telling him he couldn't. It was merely pointed out that without a few specialty tools he was at the mercy of the $10-15.00 dollar (if that) person in the factory's attention to detail in the setting of the factory settings. As it was stated, "it should...

If you reply in the advanced mode, the pirate post icon gone, but there is a troll. A troll, versus a pirate? Come on.

    Oceanic EOS

Ok, I could quote all of you, but hey. As for the EOS, I've been diving a Legend LX and Apex 50, and neither compare! Well, maybe compare, but for the price? Not sure? I dive my EOS to 38* F and have no issues. As for the adjuster, I've talked with my Oceanic rep about the problem, and am...
