Oly PT-EP12 housing (for Pen E-PL7 camera) question

I bought a PT-EP12 housing, then discovered the lens port is designed for the 14-42mm ƒ3.5 EZ lens. The port is too short for either my 14-42mm ƒ3.5 II lens or my new 30mm macro. I don't think the pancake style EZ lens would be any sort of improvement over my existing 14-42mm Mk. II lens...

    Thermoplastic Backplate

Probably too late to this thread however, I think HDPE would be a better material to use than Lexan. It would be slightly flexible, probably wouldn't require thermo-forming. My Zeagle soft plate is only 3/16 in. thick and totally flat. I used stainless steel "sidewalk" screws to mount...

Help! Olympus housing - can't remove port!

Jack, Are the "O" rings on Zen dome ports rubber such as Ikelite uses or silicone which is what Olympus uses? I understand there are specific lubricants for each type of "O" ring material.

Anti reflection ring for Panasonic 8mm fisheye behind dome port.

If you go to a photo store or online step-up filter rings are available. Just order the filter diameter for your lens and the inside diameter of your port. These are much less expensive than Olympus' shade rings. Sensei37-52mm Step-Up Ring

    Air Bubble in Crown Concern?

14 crowns never any diving issues. HOWEVER, take along some temporary crown cement when you go on a dive trip. My first night on a recent Cayman trip, at sea of course, one of my crowns popped off. Happily I didn't swallow it or bend it. Nor was my tooth very sensitive. THE FOLLOWING IS...

CAN you add a backplate to the Dive Rite Transpac XT Harness?

Rummaging around when I saw your query. Question, why would you want to add a backplate to what is essentially a soft backplate harness system?

    Thank you Dive Rite

Always check to see if there are posts on equipment I use. What year was your Nitek Q produced? Were the upgraded magnets an overall product upgrade or just a means of solving occasional problems with these computers? Would rinsing the computer with diluted white vinegar, then fresh water...

    PT-056 small leak

According to the Olympus website you need a POL-56 O ring set. If this not available you might want to try an industrial o ring producer.

Of possible interest to divers who are into tattoos. A word to the wise.+

Note to self: Do not look at DocViking "This is interesting" posts over dinner. Wonderful cautionary post.

    Ruptured eardrum after lightning strike.

I think the OP posted something in the masks & fins section. You may want to look into the IST Pro Ear Mask. This mask has ear cups which have equalization tubes attached from the face mask. This permits one to equalize the ear cups by exhaling into the face mask through your nose. It will...

IST Pro Ear Mask & Doc's Pro Plugs!?

I have been using the Pro Ear Mask for years. It works. Takes getting used to. The ear cups are a little small so I have to work my ears into them. If you positively, absolutely have to keep your ears dry use both the Pro Ear mask and the Pro Plugs. The vent in the Pro plugs relies upon...

    Venomous Blue-Ringed Octopus

In Peurto Galera I saw the calm blue ringed octo (brown phase) on my 300th dive. I saw another one on a subsequent dive. It really lit up when a small fish snapped at it.

How do I get to the medical forum?

An optometrist would have echoed all the other warnings about getting an eye exam. Especially after getting your history. A sudden onset of floaters, especially accompanied by a flashes in a bright environment, could be a symptom of a retinal tear or possible detachment. If you have myopia...

Best Rotator Cuff Treatment for Divers

Get a medical evaluation from an orthopedic physician. This will likely entail an initial referral to a physical therapist and perhaps an injection of a corticosteroid. The PT will design the best program of exercises to address your issue. If this does not solve the problem, follow-up may...

    Knee Replacement :(

Fishcity, Closed cell pipe insulation foam can help cushion your toe knuckles. The foam is a little bulky at the surface, but compresses at depth. You can hold it in place by putting a lycra or polyester sock over your foot, then inside inside your boot or fin pocket. These socks also help...

    Knee Replacement :(

Hello Basscat, Good to see you are doing well. lv2dive, Some of the knee replacements have an exchangeable bearing in the joint. The one I have is an Evolution model by Wright Medical Technology (wmt.com). It is "supposed" to be a matter of popping in a new plastic bearing instead of having a...

Help! Olympus housing - can't remove port!

Find a plastic cup or dish which is close to the dome's base diameter. Freeze water in it, put it in a plastic bag, then set it inside the port base. Chilling may cause the port tube to contract slightly which may ease the tightness of the seal. I would completely remove the retaining tab...
