Buying replacement for Mares Plana Avanti fin straps

While not pushing any brand or provider you may want to consider replacing your straps with spring straps. Many have found these to work much better...

    Sargassum

I wasn't aware of this issue. Apparently it has gotten increasingly common over the past few years. I always thought the Sargasso Sea was way out in the Atlantic and the sargasso itself didn't impact the Caribbean Sea much. Makes me think of the algal blooms which have plagued Lake Erie...

    E-PL3 and old Nikonos strobe

This might help. I don't know if Ikelight's fibre optic or slave trigger s would work on your Nikonos Strobe. Can old strobes work with digital cameras? - Lights, Strobes, and Lighting Technique Strobe Triggering

    Bonaire in July???

Ray, Don't you end up having to carry your BC in your hands to exit the water? Whatever you do, don't swim in then expect to come up off your knees or have to do a push up, to stand. Returning, I always stop just at the point where I touch bottom and remove my fins there, where I am able to...

    Using the 30mm macro

Furnari, Seeing your photos makes me think of Will Smith's character in Men In Black, when he got his hands on one of the exotic alien weapons..."Now that's what I'm talking about" Just ordered the extender.

    Using the 30mm macro

Oops, misidentified PER-E01 as an Inon product, it's really an Olympus item.

    Avis - American Express

Photograph the car you are renting in detail, especially every bit of damage. They start claiming you did something, you can show it was there from the get go. A quick wash and a bit polish may take out something you might have done, if it is minor. We got a low ball rental truck on Bonaire...

    Liveaboard Mask Redundancy

I just thought of this from your reply. I wonder if one of the prescription mask suppliers would be able to tell you if your old mask lenses might work in a current model?

    Liveaboard Mask Redundancy

I have sewn a broken mask strap back together with zip-ties. I keep some in my BC as well. I have repaired two broken fin buckles undewater. Dinih, You may want to check if your old mask lenses would fit a newer mask. I think the ones in my old Sherwood mask would work in my newer Tusa mask.

    Diving after Tympanoplasty

Helen, The ear cup can be a little small for some ears. If your outer ear is not fully contained within the inner ring, inside the Pro-Ear mask ear cup, then you can get leakage. I do sort of a rotational move of the ear cup against the side of my head to make sure my outer ear is completely...

    Red Sea Aggressor Trip

If you want to leave the airport in Istanbul you will have to purchase a tourist visa in order to exit the airport. I went through there in 2015 on the way to the Red Sea. Outbound we arrived fairly late, so we sat out our connection at the airport, though we bought into one of the lounges. It...

Something special at Something Special !

It has been a while since I was at Divi, but when I was diving there was a cruise ship at the dock. It was fairly far away and did not seem to be a threat. We were actually on the dive when the ship departed. There was all manner of clanking, roaring and grinding. We saw no effects from it...

    Pro-Ear Mask Earcup Transplant

BigBoss, The Pro-Ear ear cup transplant has worked fine for years. I have around 300 dives on both the Pro-Ear mask plus the Pro-Ear ear cup transplants to my old Sherwood mask and a newer Tusa Liberator. If it should not work out, you can always seal the holes up with nylon screws. Docs-Pro...

    ETA BONaire->4 days...first time...what to pack?

I take a big foldable cube container for water. After sitting in the truck the water warms up and you can rinse off after your dive. So far the container has remained with the truck. I carry cash and my truck key in an otter box. Merchants and restaurants will accept damp cash without any...

    Using the 30mm macro

Ardy, Congratulations on finally getting back into the water. What a long haul. I bought an Oly E-PL7 camera and the PT-EP12 housing. This camera has the short 14-42mm EZ lens and the port on the housing is much shorter than the original port on my PT-EP06 housing which I had for the E-PM1...

    Diving after Tympanoplasty

I have had a tympanoplasty. While it worked and I could dive with it, it just wasn't as strong. I use a Pro-ear Mask as insurance now. Docs-Pro Plugs, a vented silicone earplug for diving, is another product which may help. It won't keep all the water out, a small drop will go past the vent...

Sea&Sea optical cables and PT-EP13 housing

You may want to obtain replacement plugs. I found these double hole models, though single hole might be available from Olympus or Sea and Sea Inon Double Hole Fiber Optic Plug (Rubber Bush Plug) [ino.456212143565] - $5.00 : Reef Photo & Video!, The Underwater Photo Pros or Fiber Optic Sensor...

E-PM1 w/ PT-EP06 housing? Good? Not good? Would you choose something else?

The E-PM1 is a nice basic camera. You could pick up a used spare camera as well for very little money. One way to save some money is to make your own tray and arms. I have used aluminum angles, epoxy, stainless steel hardware and polypropylene drain pipes to make several trays. The pipe...

Anti reflection ring for Panasonic 8mm fisheye behind dome port.

Oops, I forgot the OP had cited an 8mm fish eye. Otherwise my though is applicable to wider angle lenses.
