The Olympus group seems to be full of TG5?

The sensor size on the TG-5 is 1/2.3 inch / 6.2mm x 4.6mm which is a deal breaker for me. The mirrorless cameras all have 4/3 / 17.3mm x 13.0mm sized sensors. They also have interchangeable lenses which is another plus.

    Solo skills to practice?

RE: #4 I regularly switch over to breathing off my octo/dual air inflator during dives. This gives me practice with removing my 2nd stage, then transferring to another regulator. Also a good check on how your back up reg breathes, it is different. The reg on my pony is the same model reg I...

Current Trip Report: Caribbean Explorer II (Saba/St.Kitts/St.Maarten)

Could anyone tell me specifically where Explorer Ventures docks it boat at St. Maartens? Just trying to figure out where the dock is in proximity to the hotel I booked. Going down there in January. Since I am traveling in mid winter, from Michigan, I decided to go a couple of days early.

fins rub on top of foot

If the pressure point is over a small area such as a toe joint, you could try using a hole punch to remove a little of the foot pocket material. This creates a flexible lattice instead of a solid sheet of rubber over the affected area. Did this after I developed issues with the joints on my...

IST Pro Ear Mask Silicone seal and lubricant

My post from yesterday didn't seem to go through. The connectors for the tubes, where they are attached to the mask skirt, seem to be made of polystyrene plastic. Using a solvent based sealant like Aquaseal could damage them. Especially the clamping ring which holds the silicone tube to the...

    Treatment For Clogged Ears

Adiron, All air spaces within your body compress as you descend to depth. The way a Docs Pro Plug keeps your ear canal dry is that it creates a separate air space behind the ear plug, in the outer ear canal, to the outside aspect of the ear drum. You are not applying air to the outer ear canal...

    Treatment For Clogged Ears

The air chamber between the inside of the Docs Pro Plug and your ear drum has to compress as depth increases. The Docs Pro Plug deforms, flexing deeper into you outer ear canal to accommodate this compression. Remember you are equalizing your ears, so there is added pressure behind the ear...

    Pro-Ear Mask Earcup Transplant

I googled the Me 80 and Me 55 Pro Ear masks separately. The ME 80 model appears to be the same model I have purchased in the past. The mask to connector tube coupling is a molded right angle fitment. The piece which communicates with the face mask chamber is threaded and held in place with a...

    Treatment For Clogged Ears

Docs Proplugs are flexible silicone, so they deform into your ear canal as external pressure increases. They have a small vent hole in the center of the earplug. Surface tension keeps the water out, up to a point. This works to about 1 atmosphere (aprox. 10 M/30 ft), then you may get a drop...

First dive trip with epl7 and UWLH100+dome

Very good work. I was a bit surprised at the lens. I got an E-PL7 camera, with this lens, but didn't like it as much as the 14-42 mm II lens on my E-PL5 camera. The test images on imaging-resource.com also seem to show lower performance, yet in their write up they say the EZ is sharper. I...

WINAIR to Bonaire, starting July 1

I guess if you live close to one of Winair's hub/spoke locations this is a good deal. Their price from where I live is much the same and would add yet another stop on what is already a minimum 3 stop itinerary. Of course the competition can't hurt, but would American decide to go through SXM...

Bob Gadbois, underwater photographer, videographer and WBBM TV video producer.

So much of the diving world is local. We all know our own little parts of the diving world. It can be our region, our specialty or maybe even a local dive operator. This Passings Thread is a good Scubaboard resource. We get to find out about divers in our dispersed community. I decided to...

    Should I upgrade from TG-4 to TG-5

What do you really see in the TG-5 which you don't have in the TG-4? Would this be worth the cost of a new housing as well as a camera? Here is a review on Imaging-resource.com of the TG-5 camera. You can also look up their TG-4 review in their discontinued cameras section. Olympus TG-5 Review

    Knee Replacement Question

Ramon, What are the fins you use? What kind of BC do you have, back inflating or jacket type? Have you tried moving your tank a little higher on your BC? How are you carrying your weights? On a belt, integrated, or on back pockets on your BC? How much weight do you use? This might help sort...

Word came today (May 21, 2018) that Bob Gadbois, one of our longest serving and most active members of the Underwater Archaeology Society of Chicago, died this morning of cancer. He has been a remarkable resource not just for the UASC, but to the many diving organizations he has been part of in...

Bungee or spring straps: which is best?

Check the quality of your spring straps. I got a some brand x spring straps which had press fitted caps over the ends of the pins connecting the springs to the end clips. One of those caps popped off at 40 ft. on a night dive in the Red Sea. I was finning along when something started flapping...

    Negative fins - opinions/do'

leadduck mentioned your weight distribution maybe contributing to your light feet? What sort of weight system are you using? Suspender based weigh systems let you carry your weights lower on your body. This became an issue for me as I aged and all of a sudden my gluteus maximus became...
