Spouse doesn't dive, may try for a snorkeling trip or two, boat or shore diving is fine, but thinking it will be easier to use a dive operator. Accommodation will be made to work with dive op selected. Thank you for your replies.

Do vented ear plugs work? The topic comes up often.+

Docs Pro Plugs will attenuate sound somewhat, can't say how many Db. Usual foam or silicone ear plugs for hearing protection are listed around 30 Db. My audiologist has recommended using vitamin E to soothe and clean my ear when using a hearing aid.

    Eye Hemorrhage

The effect would be temporary. To elaborate, my suggestion is to look up and down rapidly for a short period. You cannot substitute this motion for daily vision. This may shift the floater up or down slightly. No guarantees.

    Eye Hemorrhage

uncfnp, You might try rapidly looking up and down with your eye. Sometimes this can get the floater to move to either a slightly higher or lower plane in your visual field. Most of the time we move our eyes side to side, so floaters in the vitreous can settle into a particular plane. This...

Long Term Perforated Eardrum...Any hopes to dive one day?

The hole in Docs Pro Plugs utilizes surface tension to prevent entry of water. You can see surface tension when you overfill a glass with water. A small amount of water can be seen above the rim of the glass. This surface tension works down to about 20 feet. Lower than that, a small drop of...

    Eye Hemorrhage

Diver 4242, Have you been examined and tested to determine how you developed your retinal hemorrhage? Getting on the thread a bit late, however the type of hemorrhage can be indicative of the cause. So-called splinter hemes or disk hemorrhages are associated with glaucoma.

Long Term Perforated Eardrum...Any hopes to dive one day?

Hethen, If your spouse has perforations she is likely pressurizing both her middle ear and the outer ear space between her eardrum and the Doc's Pro Plug. The vented Pro Plugs limit water entry into the outer ear canal next to the ear drum. The vent hole in the plug uses surface tension of the...

Long Term Perforated Eardrum...Any hopes to dive one day?

You don't have to cut a hood. I did this to a couple of hooded vests at first. Unfortunately when you turned your head it would pull at the earcups and could displace them enough to leak. This is why I also use Doc's Pro Plugs under the ProEar mask earcups. I finally settled on using a...

    Compatible cameras with Zeiko(olympus) lenses.

The Oly micro 4/3rds lenses titled M.Zuiko and Panasonic 4/3rds lenses are interchangeable. Some of the optics on the Panasonic lenses are intriguing since they are produced by Leica. The primary difference is that the Panasonic lenses have image stabilization (IS) mechanisms in the lenses...

    Flesh eating bacteria question

Should you suffer a cut, abrasion or puncture from coral or an urchin spine, thoroughly debriding the wound is a good first step. Even if you clean or disinfect the wound, leaving a bit of urchin spine or coral flake in it could harbor some bacteria.

    Olympus EM-1 Won’t Turn On

Check the end of the ON/OFF housing button actuator arm which contacts the switch on the camera. If there is a pad it may have shifted or even fallen off. If the actuator mechanism is articulated there may have been some sort of shift resulting in the arm missing the button. Also, mentioned...

Long Term Perforated Eardrum...Any hopes to dive one day?

Here are a few threads about the Pro Ear Mask and Docs Pro Plugs. Rummaging through these may help you to understand what Dr. Mike was mentioning. I have had a tympanoplasty and have used these products for over 150 dives. As a belt and suspenders approach I use the Docs Pro Plug with my pro...

    CRVO question

As an ophthalmic photographer, I only documented CRVO and other retinal disorders. The first time I heard about Avastin (the first commercial anti-VEGF) on NPR's Science Friday, my immediate thoughts were how it could be applied to so many retinal problems. They even took a call during the...
