Jewel Bubble Divers, Taveuni, Fiji: any experience?

I am planning a dive trip to Taveuni, Fiji in December, my first visit to Fiji. My first choice was to dive with Aqua-Trek. However, I have been told that their boats are booked solid to 37 people (and that's even after renting an extra boat) for the week of Christmas when I will visit. I...

    Vilamendhoo Maldives- anyone been lately?

My wife and I stayed at the Vilamendhoo Island Resort in the Maldives last week and I thought I would provide a quick review of the diving given the dearth of information on this website about Vilamendhoo. Vilamendhoo itself, an island in the south Ari Atoll, is a 25 minute seaplane ride from...

    An Andrea Doria Exclusive

The wreck of the Zenobia in Larnaca, Cyprus should have made the list.

Atmos elite or Oceanic VT3 or Suunto Vytec

Could you point me in the direction of a shop that is selling a new Vytec DS with the transmitter in the aforementioned range. A Suunto-authorized retailer would be preferred. I haven't seen prices that low, except for used Vytecs. Even LeisurePro has it at $949.95.

    Greetings from the Maldives

Got a recommendation for a land-based dive resort in the Maldives? My wife and I are choosing between Vilamendhoo and Bandos Island for our April trip, although we are open to other suggestions.

    Hurghada

For anyone planning a trip to Hurghada, you may be able to take advantage of the $15/night rate at the Hilton. See here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=629556&page=1&pp=15

    Andrea Doria on TV

I thought yesterday's PBS show was much more informative than the DSD episode with regard to the history, circumstances, and cause of the accident and its aftermath. The archival footage, including that of the sinking, was quite good. The show really put the whole collision and sinking in...

Hog Harness vs Pro fit adjustable

I dive with a DSS Hog harness. After the initial adjustment, it fits like a glove, but is nevertheless quite easy to don and doff whether on land, in a boat, or in the water. I do not regret my choice of this harness over the Pro-fit harness (and its failure points) one bit.

Cougar Ace: world's newest wreck dive?

The Exxon Valdez is an oil tanker that broke apart when it ran aground. Totally different from the Cougar Ace, a cargo ship that may go down relatively intact.

Cougar Ace: world's newest wreck dive?

The 654 foot Singapore-flagged cargo ship appears to be headed for the bottom, some two hundred miles off the coast of one of Alaska's Aleutian Islands. The ship is listing almost 90 degrees. Rescue efforts are underway, although four life rafts have been dropped beyond the reach of the...

    Zenobia wreck: dive report

I dove the wreck of the Zenobia on Sunday, July 1, 2006 with EZ Divers. The Zenobia is a 560 foot Sweedish roll-on, roll-off ferry that sank in Larnaca harbor (Cyprus) on her maiden voyage in 1980. She now lies on her port side in approximately 138 feet of sea water. I highly recommend this...

    how do people rank cancun

Cancun is fantastic, albeit not for the diving, if only because of the superiority of its island neigbor, Cozumel. But the water is as clear as you'll find anywhere outside of an Evian bottle. The sand is great. And the nightlife is awesome. Cozumel itself is only a hop, skip, and a jump...

Need help rigging the buckle on my DSS cam bands

I purchased the Single Tank Rig from Deep Sea Supply and have rigged my Hogarthian harness. Now I am running into trouble with the threading of the cam band webbing through the black plastic buckles on my cam bands. I could use some advice -- and better yet, pictures -- of how to thread...

Staying in Cancun but Diving from Cozumel?

Since you are staying on the mainland, perhaps you should dive the cenotes this time around and save Cozumel for your next visit.

No wonder the airlines are hurting.....

Exactly. Except for the case where the airline changed -- or, even worse, cancelled -- the only flight of the day/week, an airline schedule change can usually be worked to your favor. Pick another flight that you would have preferred originally, but was too expensive because seats in the...

No wonder the airlines are hurting.....

If an airline makes a unilateral schedulue change that is unsatisfactory to you, you have multiple options including a full refund at your discretion (even of a non-refundable fare). Alternatively, most airlines are willing to reaccommodate you on different flights through different hubs or...

Staying in Cancun but Diving from Cozumel?

As far as cost goes, its about $0.60 for the bus from the hotel zone to downtown Cancun, $6.00 for the ride from downtown Cancun to Playa del Carmen, and $9.00 for the ferry from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel. All estimates are in US dollars and are one way costs.

Staying in Cancun but Diving from Cozumel?

Staying in Cancun and diving in Cozumel is not ideal as it is a grind, but it is do-able. I too have stayed at the Omni Cancun while commuting to Cozumel to dive. The least expensive way to get to and from Cozumel is to take a bus on Kulkulkan Blvd. downtown. From there, you can either take...

Silent World Diving - Key Largo

Dove with Silent World a year ago. Two dives on the Spiegel Grove. Not the friendliest of people, but the boat and equipment were fine. One complaint is that they tied off on one end of the ship and told us we'd get picked up at the other end on both dives which is probably not ideal given...
