Ah, thanks for enlightening me!
Has the scooter been retrieved, yet, so the cause of the defect can be investigated?
I find it extremely disturbing, a device so vital to that kind of diving simply fails like this out of the blue...
My sincere condolences go to his/her friends and family, will...
Maybe a silly question from me as a simple recreational diver, but isn't there some kind of emergency release for the scooter? I mean, I have horses and the ropes we use usually have a panic snap (for example like this HILASON WESTERN TACK 11/8in X 41/4in STAINLESS STEEL PANIC SNAP W/ TWIST BODY...
Whatever the advantage may be, but Mares states for the IconHD:
"With Mares' bidirectional technology, it communicates actively with the tank module for an unprecedented level of safety and user friendliness."
Cheers,
Peter
Yeah, that sucks, sorry for you mate :(
Though FW update always represents a risk, no matter if done via cable or IR, the latter is quite prone to a connection loss and I would have expected some kind of failsafe mechanism in case this happens.
OTOH with the new G2 coming, probably a bunch of...
I'm still diving my first computer (2 years, 250 dives). I know it like the palm of my hand and it covers my needs so I don't have the urge to replace it.
One more thing to keep in mind maybe, since you're located in France the availability of service might be an issue.
I'm pretty sure, you...
There's a manual for ScubaPro's Galileo 2 on their website: http://www.scubapro.com/media/711667/13329_-_j-o_g2_eng.pdf
Bizarre enough the G2 is not listed on their product-page (yet? anymore?) but I found an online store in Germany selling it actually: ScubaPro Galileo G2 | Luftintegrierte...
Ah, the intensive use of compass and backlight contributes to battery life as well - My experiences posted above are without compass and backlight - I prefer my sk8 and if it's dark I usually have a torch in my hand and flash it quickly at the computer rather than spending a thought on which...
Vyper Air here... The original battery only lasted about 50 dives (35 diving hours roughly) but since I don't know the shelftime of the computer before I bought it, this probably isn't representative. The second one lasted some 140 dives (about 100 diving hours) and actually I've done another 60...
As said: Commercial sites that may ban you from diving their location do require this mostly. For any other site my first statement applies: There's no Scuba-Police and everyone can kill himself as he likes...
Costs are 100€ roughly and if that's covered by your health insurance depends on your plan with them. Some cover it, some don't.
But to be honest, I have no sympathy for anyone dying while diving from medical issues that could have been discovered beforehand if it has been omitted for financial...
Well, I know, there's no Scuba-Police, but at least here in Germany the commercial dive-spots I know require a standardized medical exam (called 'Tauchtauglichkeitsbescheinigung' which literally translates to Confirmation of the capability to dive ;)) you have to pass every 2 years (every year...
According to
Unglück Im Heidesee: Hobbytaucher tot geborgen
last Sunday a recreational diver was recovered dead from a partially frozen lake.
According to the article he left home Saturday 3 pm. His girlfriend reported him missing by 10 pm. SAR found his car, keys and clothes at the lake but...
Off Topic, but this was the key to ridding me of the lower back problems I used to experience after 10-15 minutes into every dive. Due to a less than optimal tank position I was permanently diving with a hollow back. Shifting the tank slightly towards my feet helped tremendously. Definitely...
What makes me wonder a bit is, that (according to your profile) it took you 100-199 dives to figure out you might have a weighting problem.
Or did you change your config recently and struggle since? If so, what did you change?
I had the same problems with the 911 initially. I have to 'ruffle' the bladder a little while being upright in the water in order to get trapped air up. Also leaning slightly to the right while dumping air in addition to leaning backwards helped.
Cheers, Peter
Hi,
if anyone from Zeagle is around, I'd be glad if they could help me with this one:
May, 13th this year I ordered a vest assembly, size MD for my 911 BCD from a local dealership here in Germany. It was the same dealer I purchased my 911 a year before. They told me, they didn't have the part...
From the picture I'd 'guesstimate' about 5m given the GoPros wideangle lens plus the shorter optical perception of about 1/4 under water and the guess that the diver upfront is roughly 2m in length incl. fins.
If someone kicks the mask off my face or its strap rips apart there is no such thing as slowly flooding.
Shouldn't these situations be trained for rather than a slowly filling mask (which I'd probably clear long before it's filled completely)?
