dive physics problem.. a challenge for you...

Right Pete I agree with you, the weight of the air would have nothing to do with this calculation... Archimedes principle: Any object immersed in a liquid will be buoyed up by a force equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object.

dive physics problem.. a challenge for you...

weight of air would not have anything to do with the calculation, Boyle's law and Archimedes principle are used.

    Military Divers

Most military divers (in my experiences) do not pursue civilian training unless at some point they have difficulty getting air or they wish to do something like cave. I have had many military students who already had a civilian certification prior to getting military qualified. YMCA has a...

    Revolutionary type of fins?

They have certainly experimented with many different styles, I have tried some and liked them but to be honest I like the weight and stiffness of Jetfins over most anything.

    Solo PSD Rescue Dives

I was answering bridge divers question. NFPA are guidelines only, if you are a paid department you are still required to meet the OSHA standard, anyone can exceed the standard but all have to meet the minimum. (although as someone already stated the regulations are not often enforced)

Spegial Grove Blueprints? Advance planning for penetrating The Grove.

I have only seen one episode, it was him and Peter Bozanic diving in a cave in Mexico. I didn't really like that show, maybe I will try to catch the next one...

Spegial Grove Blueprints? Advance planning for penetrating The Grove.

Just curious about this statement "he is a commercial diver" I have seen comments about him being a wreck diver but never anything saying he had any commercial experience.

How do I get O2 certified?

In many places medical oxygen is controlled, you need a prescription to get your cylinder filled.

Sport diver dies doing commercial work NFLND

No it would not appear (entanglement, mechanical injury, pinned under weight) the task was the direct cause of the fatality. I may be wrong but I think one of the things Pipedope was trying to bring to light was that if the task was performed by a commercial company there would have been a...

How do I get O2 certified?

You can go to your local Red Cross, or find a DAN O2 course in your area. It is usually cheaper to go through Red Cross on first aid, but a DAN instructor should be covering more information on diving injuries...

Sport diver dies doing commercial work NFLND

Legislation was not written specific to installing or moving a mooring, so using that as the basis for dropping legislation is unrealistic. The fact is that just having a certification to commercial dive proves nothing (the same applies to any diving) if you do not know how to do a task...

    Military Divers

Many of the early re-breathers ran 100% O2, the reason it is still used for the LAR-V (Draeger) it is the simplest system, no sensors, no dillutant, no mixing of gas required. At transit depth (around 15 FSW) the O2% is not high, the unit can be used for short excursions to deeper depths as...

    Military Divers

YMCA offers a direct cross over to open water. My experience, having never used SCUBA before the military and then learning to dive with a horse collar BC (the military did not begin to use BC's until very recently 2001 for the Army) my buoyancy skills were lacking, we controlled our depth on...

    Training Groups??

Check out LGS http://www.teamlgs.com/ I am a big supporter of thier training program and concepts. There are some others out there but of course as with anything the value of the training is a large part the instructor and a large part the motivation and desire to learn of the students.
