    National Guard Divers

Hey thanks, I would be interested in learning more about the unit and any like it. I had heard from someone about one starting in TX also... Man, couple hours travel to work as a diver? Wait until you read through the MTOE before you dismiss it... It might be worth your time... Jeff

    Careers in diving

Who are you going to work with Paul? Kind of odd them paying double time after 8 but good for you. Most of the companies I have worked for only pay depth deeper than 50 FSW. Are you getting any equipment rental rate? Stay safe, Jeff

The training is recognized, do the extra legwork and submit for your ADC (Association of Diving Contractors) certification after you graduate. Good luck and have a great time in training! Deep Sea!! Jeff

    Commercial Diving School

There are two schools in Jacksonville, MESCO and Cpt Blacks. You may want to look into the state funded schools Youngs memorial in LA and Santa Barbara in CA. Your tuition will run between 2000.00 and 5000.00 instead of 15,000 to 20,000 at most commercial courses. Jeff

    Careers in diving

Having done both I can assure you commercial diving rates are higher. That said money is not my incentive for diving, if you ask yourself what you would do if you won the lottery and did not have to work? Having the ability to work in that trade makes everything else seem like icing on the...

Any Women Commercial Divers Out There?

There are a few women divers working offshore in the gulf, in my opinion this would be one of the more difficult assignments for a woman (only because of the living arrangments provided offshore) The military has many woman divers working in construction, explosive ordinance disposal, and...

    I know someone knows!!!

Well, I guess that can happen with graduates of all diving schools. Some are able to excell and some are not. If you condemn all divers from a paticular background your going to end up missing out on some good hands. What training would you recommend? What is your company? Jeff

Looking to try Full Face Mask diving

It depends a bit on the shape of your face, I really like the Interspiro Divator (AGA mask) and the Poseidon atmosphere. There are a couple articles on some of the different options out there if you check the articles section (top / blue navigation bar)

    The Wife

I noticed you did not get a chance to post your background yet. I thought SAR was swimmer, you guys dive also? What dive school did you go to? Wow, doing dive op's with the CIA, SEAL's, and Rangers. Pretty exciting career. What Ranger unit were you working with? I know a bunch of thier...

    Panama City Beach Dives

I't been pretty good offshore considering, water has been 20' to 30' I like the folks at Hydrospace, but have heard good things about all the shops in town. You could also hit the jetties at St Andrews as a walk in dive and North of town (if you drive down) Morrison springs is a great dive...

I didn't realize that SAR was a dive qualified rating? I have only worked with one SAR swimmer and he had gone through 2nd class school first.

    National Guard Divers

I would be interested in getting some more information on this unit as well. The Army reserve did have two OOB (now 21 D) but they were disbanded over five years ago. I did hear some talk or re-forming the reserve component dive teams at this years Army diver reunion. I would be very...

    Looking for an underwater career

You can get some further information from www.adp.fsu.edu the Florida State University Academic Diving Program. This is a field that for many positions requires a graduate degree although I have friends within the US EPA and FL DEP that dive as biologist with a BS. Jeff

    Commercial Diver ?

A french company COMEX hodls the open water record, 701 meters or almost 2250 feet. It really depends on the type of work being supported, I average less than 30 FSW on most projects. Much of my work is in support of construction or demolition projects such a bridges and inland pipelines...

    Commercial Diver ?

First off, I love this job and there is nothing I would rather be doing, I do not think that is the predominant attitude in this industry though. Sometimes people stick with it for a short time or stay for other obligations. It is hard because you have to try it for yourself to know but, at...

    Info on the Navy

Hey Roy, Sorry for the delay. The Navy is currently in the process of making diving its own rate so shortly all divers will be rated as divers. I am not aware of any rate that could not be a diver, many were bosun or engineman but many other rates came through school as well. There...
