    Commercial Diving

Work in and around Panama City is sporadic, he needs to be prepared to travel. We are in a good position (panhandle) to work out of LA if he is interested in doing some offshore work. Regardless of the school he choses he is going to need to move to it temporarily for training (about 6...

How many commercial diving schools (not scuba)?

Try the Association of Commercial Diving Educators, ACDE. There are two schools in FL, yours in SC, one in NJ, one in Seattle, two in CA (Chino being one and SB the other), one in TX, one in LA. There is also a school in Minnesota that offers a course. So ten currently in the US. Your...

    Best Full Face Mask?

Hey Borg, I have always liked the AGA, and never had any problems with fit. I was really impressed by the prototype units OTS had at DEMA but have not got one yet to try diving. I ordered one thinking it might fit a wider range of faces for training. KMDSI makes some quality masks as well. Jeff

    Best Full Face Mask?

Check out Ocean Technology Systems, they offer a wide variety of masks. I am anxiously awaiting arrival of their new design, sam it at DEMA and was impressed enough to pre-order. I am a big fan of the interspiro divator (AGA mask) also. Jeff

Are there any women in commercial diving?

Yes there are woman in the field working both inland and offshore. From what I have seen they are rarely treated the same, usually better or worse. It depends allot on the age and attitude of the other personnel. Look around at all the schools available before making a big decision like...

    Tech Schools

The path to becoming a commercial diver has changed a bit over the years, originally divers were for the most part military trained divers who got out of the service and began working commercially. Another resource was employees who were trained on the job, normally family members of the divers...

    Commercial diving training center honesty?

Yes, for the most part any Association of Commercial Diving Educators (ADCE) course is going to be quality training, the basic purpose of the course is to familiarize you with the equipment used in commercial diving. It is a OJT trade, you will learn to dive in school but learn to work in the...

    Commercial diving training center honesty?

Yes there is no reason you could not make 60,000 - 80000 if your working offshore. You will get between 16-19 as a new tender but when offshore your making a minimum 12 hour day seven days a week, 44 hours of overtime per week will add up quickly if your a decent hand and keep working. As...

The Jellyfish & commercial diver (humor)

It could happen, it is not at all uncommon to dive a wetsuit with hot water. Some guys use a spider system of tygon tubing to circulate the suit more but most just run a short length of hose into their wetsuit and move it around as needed. Hot water is used at all depths this time of year. I...

    Another Full Face Mask Thread...

You might want to take a look at the new design OTS Ocean Technology Sysytems is releasing this spring. It is really nice design, like a improved version of AGA. The EXO is a great mask as well, and so is the AGA. I am not a fan of the ocean reef or scubapro models.
