    The useful life of equipment

Practically disposable: O2 sensors rubber fin straps drygloves o-rings Two, maybe three years: hoses drysuit underwear lightbulbs neoprene exposure wear 10 years or less: Aluminum tanks masks Will last long time (+15 years): Faber or other steel tanks regulators Will...

Women of the world, support today's Indy race!!!

Exactly - and no one complains about it, or calls such a policy sexist. But when a driver calls upon the sanctioning series to institute a similar policy, he gets called "afraid" by folks on Scubaboard??? Anyway - my points been made. Time to let this thread die, I think.

Women of the world, support today's Indy race!!!

I had no idea you found F1 drivers 'handsome', Andy. Hmmm..... :) Anyway - F1 drivers average between 65 and 75 kg (or between 140 and 165 lbs.) Champ Car drivers average between 150 and 175 or so. NASCAR drivers, on the other hand, can be as pudgy as Jimmy Spencer at 230.

Women of the world, support today's Indy race!!!

That's what Robby Gordon was saying - change the rules so the cars ARE equal. It's a formula that works in the main competition to the IRL, over in Champ Car. It's a fair call for Gordon to make. He weighs close to 200 pounds, being an athletic, muscular male. He was asked about competing...

Women of the world, support today's Indy race!!!

For example, Bebo threw this gem out: Let's examine this, shall we? or Based on what? The answer to this is really simple. How many wins does she have in her career? She's had zero. No wins in the IRL, no wins in Toyota Atlantic. None. But the truly 'ludicrous' comment (and I do...

Women of the world, support today's Indy race!!!

H2Andy - I've got absolutely no problem with 'feminism,' per se. I have a problem with misguided 'calls to action.' I've got an even bigger problem with mis-informed attacks. Bebo attacked "Bobby Gordon" for complaining about weight requirements, while calling upon women to support this...

Women of the world, support today's Indy race!!!

I simply find it ludicrous that anyone would show up this year to call upon the "Women of the World" to support the Indy race. Why not last year? Is it because Danica Patrick is attractive and a media sensation, whereas Sarah Fisher was not? Isn't that horribly sexist?

Women of the world, support today's Indy race!!!

And for the record - having a woman race against 'the sexist men' is hardly unique - Robby Gordon quite happily ran Indy against Sarah Fisher. I'm sorry, Bebo - I may come across as harsh, and I do apologize for that. But with all due respect, you clearly don't know what you're speaking of...

Women of the world, support today's Indy race!!!

BS. I'm sorry - complete and total BS. BAR Honda just got suspended for three races in F1 because their illegal gas tank would have made the car 9 pounds lighter. Juan Montoya got into trouble at McLaren because when he signed his contract, he weighed 183, but he showed up to begin the...

Uncle Pug dives a Zeagle Ranger BC ~ my report on the problems we had with it.

LOL - DJanni - you have the biggest insecurity complex about your gear as anyone I've seen on here in a long, long time.

Women of the world, support today's Indy race!!!

There's no way Newman-Hass will go - have you heard Paul Newman talk? Now, HAAS may go sometime, but Newman won't. And the IRL is in big, BIG trouble. They lose Toyota and Chevy next year, and Honda has delivered the ultimatum - unify or we're out. Meanwhile, Champcar not only owns their...

Women of the world, support today's Indy race!!!

    A) I won't watch any race that belongs to the egomaniacal cokehead idiot grandson who has RUINED open wheel racing across North America, Tony George. He's a jackass of the first degree and deserves a special place in racing hell for what he's done to the Indy, and OW racing in general. B)...

Is there a best way to mark your equipment?

I'm a big fan of silver & black Sharpies. They will mark on just about anything. If I own it, it has initials in it - spools, dive lights, tanks, wing, gloves, boots, fins... I'm surprised my initials aren't on my wife. And wife comment notwithstanding, I'm continually amazed at what...

    Remove the PST Sticker?

Mine lasted about 10 minutes. Take a sharp knife to get underneath it and slowly peel it off. They're not difficult to remove. There was a 'shiny spot' where the sticker was for about 3-4 dives afterward - I just ignored it and it disappeared.

    DUI TLS SE and CNSE

Jason - don't worry, one day you too may see the light. I've been there dude. I owned a DUI CNSe. It was a fine suit. Nothing inherently 'wrong' with it. I defended it like it was my first born. I put gussets in it. I added suspenders to it after I realized that yeah, suspenders are a...

    Mask recommendation?

It's all about fit and low volume. I prefer black, but you can have a yellow mask with a clear skirt and a pink strap if you want - it's perfectly fine.... as long as it fits.

What is your favorite dive spot in Ontario?

I just got back from a weekend in Tobermory, which is close to where my in-laws live. It's great, but only a few times a year - it's a tourist trap, and despite it's self-proclaimed billing as the "Scuba Capital of Canada," it's very diver unfriendly. Parking is a pain, and many places tend to...

    Weekend activities Eastern Ontario 13 - 15 May 05

I'm just thinking out loud. But for sure, you're right - low heat. But heck - it's just a hair dryer. I doubt that even on high setting that it would be hot enough to melt plastic, considering the danger that could cause to a human scalp??? I would think if you have an old hair dryer that...
