    Scented or Unscented

I've got a really pragmatic view about sunblock and latex - regardless of the 'real' answer. Latex - replaceable. My skin - not. Sunblock wins.

    AIR 2 or Octopus?

I disagree - I don't think you can substitute equipment for skill.

    AIR 2 or Octopus?

Why is one less hose considered "an advantage????" If it were an advantage, why wouldn't you consider a completely hoseless reg set? -

    AIR 2 or Octopus?

    Not even remotely DIR.

    Aqualung SOS Device

Considering you "just" bought it - any chance you could take it back? I hate to be the "you just bought a crappy piece of gear" guy, but - what possible advantage does that thing have over a standard safety sausage? You don't have to hang unto it - that's it. On the other hand, if you...

    Diving Concepts vs. DUI

It's not back entry. Self-donning, with suspenders & bellows pockets. Like I say - pretty much identical to the Ultraflex Pro, but with a retracting torso.

    Diving Concepts vs. DUI

Cool - I stand corrected. In any event - my Z-Tech is brand new. I believe it's a new product for Diving Concepts and you're correct, it's almost identical to an Ultraflex Pro, but it doesn't come custom and it has a telescoping torso. Obviously, DC hasn't updated their website yet. And yes...

    Diving Concepts vs. DUI

OK - let me jump in here. First off - it's a "Z-Tech," not a Z-flex. I know - I have one hanging here beside me. Secondly, it's almost identical construction wise to an Ultra-Flex Pro. The Ultra-Flex uses 1000 weight cordura, the Z-Tech uses 750. That's about it. Both are comparable...

    Where to stay in Tobermory?

They have a few smaller cottages. I'd just pick up the phone and talk to them.

    Automotive red rubber grease?

Not on anything I want to breathe from! :11: Seriously - some things I don't mind spending an extra buck or two for. Life support is one of them.

    Where to stay in Tobermory?

If you rent a cottage from the Trails End Lodge, you will have access to the best shore dive in Ontario - the backwall behind the cottage. It's a wall dive, and you can hit 100 feet about 6 feet off the shore. Its private property, so the only way you can dive it is if you or friends are...

anyone know a good wreck instructor

Well - I'd recommend looking at your training agency specs before you get too committed to that schedule. For one thing, Cave 1 & 2 and Tech 1 & 2 are both GUE courses, and encompass Cavern, Deco and Trimix as part of the curriculum already.

    The useful life of equipment

We're veering way off topic, but I would disagree with that. I've flooded a suit before in 50 degree water. Not a trickle, but get out of suit, and wring the water out of my underwear and it would fill a mask-case, easily. I didn't notice until I got out of the water at the end of the dive...

Thanks Snowbear. I'll remember that next time bosslady gets mad at me for my stinky dive gear. :)

    storm whistles

I was about to ask the same thing. It was my understanding that it's the Fox40 which is the loudest whistle on earth. I was pretty sure they were used in all the professional sporting leagues, too... :06: http://www.fox40whistle.com/

    Metric and Imperial tanks.

Marek - I'm sorry but you're wrong. Kim is correct. We refer to tanks as their capacity when filled to rated pressure. You can have an HP100 which is actually smaller in phsyical size than an AL80... because it's filled to a higher pressure, it holds more gas.

    The useful life of equipment

You can't wash thinsulate with detergent - it will ruin the insulating value. I wear polypro underneath. If you're doing serious diving all year round, I know most guys have to get a new set for the cold stuff about every 2-3 years. It just isn't as warm anymore. It'll still be ok for the...

Women of the world, support today's Indy race!!!

Gordon is hardly too fat to race Indy Cars. As you may know, he's done the double at Indy and the Coke 600 twice now. He didn't try this year because George moved the start time of the Indy race.

The all-inclusive IRIS software/interface trouble shooting note

Just a friendly reminder from your resident cheerful former Iris owner... It's a POS. Burn it, you'll thank me later. That is all. ;)
