Kudos to all who are helping and have helped in New Orleans

    Classy, Rollie. Really classy.

New double wings from Halcyon and Tobin

FINALLY! I've been after dive manufacturers to create a circular doubles wing for years! I haven't seen Tobin's yet, but I'm sure it's great - I'm only referring to the Halcyon propoganda. But FINALLY!

    Surface signalling mirror

This is one of the more expensive ones I've seen. Mine was like, $7 Canadian or something ridiculously cheap. http://www.survivalunlimited.com/survival_misc/starflash.htm

    Ontario Insurance Question

I was able to get life insurance, but it was tricky. If you're thinking of doing technical training, get life insurance BEFORE taking the course.

    Surface signalling mirror

Probably "not." There's a link floating around here showing relative reflectivity of a proper signal mirror versus another commonly believed substitute - a CD. People are fooling themselves and risking their life by taking a CD and thinking it works as a signal mirror. Will it work? Sure...

Mouting Spair Air Pocket by Zeagle on Brigade

Switching away from a pony? Great - glad I could help. Switching to a pony? LOL - Nice try. Go ahead and post some links where I suggest anything approaching "benefit." Didn't think so.

    Northern tech diver

LOL - well, it's become obvious, not just from reading your brief posting history, but just this post alone, that you have a bone to pick with Tom, Northern Tech Diver, and the DIR community. I'm not sure what made you so militantly zealous, but whatever. I'm not going to bite. Needless to...

    Uwatec/OMS BT Battery question.

I don't. In fact, I hear that when you send them back in for battery replacement, they just send you out a new one... but I don't know if that rumour is accurate or not.

    Uwatec/OMS BT Battery question.

Yes. They have to be sent back to Uwatec to get the batteries replaced. Figure on 5-8 years under moderate diving conditions before the battery dies.

anyone know a good wreck instructor

In fact, I'd almost guarantee that it's not. More relaxed as you gain experience, perhaps, but the breathing medium has nothing to do with SAC rate. And to say it's "very normal" is misleading.

Dry Suit - Questions on going Dry

Geez everyone - repeat after me. A drysuit keeps you dry. A Buoyancy Compensator compensates for buoyancy. Any questions?

Why is spit such a good defogger?

I'm a happy spitter, and yes - I have been known to lick the inside of my mask when underwater and I can assure folks that it works just fine. Saliva is saliva. I have a buddy who can't use spit. He's got defective spit or something. I guess some people are just cursed.

    Travel BCs and BP/Ws

You can easily use the same wing for both warm water and cold water diving. There's no difference in external size between an Oxycheq 30 and 40, for example. And it's almost irrelevant - you don't need 40 lbs of lift with a single tank setup. An Aluminum plate will cost you less than $100...

why no Air2 designed to be detachable?

Because they're dangerous and they'll kill you? Oops - forgot I wasn't commenting on Air2 threads anymore.... ;)

    DUI dry suit question

Ken, I like you, but honestly - aren't you just justifying a horrible idea here? Have you ever tried to climb a boat ladder or attempted a surf exit with a flooded drysuit? In cold water, to boot? I can't IMAGINE that zip gloves would be DIR. Especially when there are alternatives out...

Solo Diving, How about WHY we should not instead of just NO you should not.

I think you all make valid points - many of the accidents in Scuba are at least partially preventable. (But for the record, anyone who claims you can hear a JetSki before it's virtually on top of you has never dove cold water with Jetski's in the area.) But there's an even stronger point...

    DUI dry suit question

Geez, I would think so, otherwise you're just setting yourself up for a world of hurt.
