Halcyon STA-less BP / Wing Questions

from the harness webbing at the top attachment point. It adds thickness that the bottom does not have, and causes the tank to sit away from the internal STA at the top, more or less pivoting on the top bolt. I also switched to stainless flathead machine screws with acorn nuts to finish it off...

    Eyes open under water..?

every night you fill up your sink and stick your head underwater and open your eyes, you could even use your snorkel.:) I think it is a conditioned response, and you can get used to it, especially if you do it every day. Chlorine will fry your eyes, and is probably responsible for many...

    Aluminum S80 3300psi - which alloy?

you've been picking up some interesting stuff and it sounded like the start of a vintage dive outfit from the early 70's.:) :)

Filling doubles with nitrox on a boat...

to check with the boat. Considering the fact that some shore based shops have trouble hitting 3000psi. I used to have a pair of steel twin 50's, yes, they were small, but 100 cf. at 1800 psi, there was no trouble getting those puppies filled anywhere. The gas will mix, but check the O2 content...

    All about H-valves and Y-valves

I had to replace the enviro caps on the 1st stages so I could switch directly from my singles to doubles and have hoses routed cleanly. Personally, I didn't really trust the sealed caps to begin with, so making the change wasn't a big deal for me.

    All about H-valves and Y-valves

Are what I use on my singles. In my application (apeks ATX200) they work better than the H valve. But good luck getting your hands on any, they import maybe 6 every other month!! :D

Sunken Aircraft Carrier off the bay area coast

truly rugged! especially around the Golden Gate. Have you dove up north at all. Up past Ft.Ross there are some interesting coves, it used to be far from the crowd. Probably not, any more. :( I wasn't kidding about the sharks, either. hey, when did you become a reg?? cool!

Sunken Aircraft Carrier off the bay area coast

We never dove the stretch from Half Moon Bay north to Jenner. We knew it as the Great White breeding grounds(or waters!) Especially around the Farallon Islands. We would wade and stir up sharks at Limintour spit, depending on the time of year. Bad visibility, also. Scubaroo, I'm curious, do...

    BC Rides Up...

just a thought, but how much weight are you carrying? Is it on your waist? If you are overweighted on your waist, you will be sinking and your BC will require more air to keep you neutral, and will ride up in relation to your body. Test yourself at the end of a dive, when your tank is at 500psi...

How do you confrm a charger is working

the charger should warm up a little, and the light should light up after a half hour on the charger.:) Oops, I just reread your post about no battery, yeah, use a multimeter. the charger will state on its backside what the output is, measure across the pos. and neg. and see what you get.

    Doing it Left

as far as operating controls are concerned, the things we manipulate while we are driving, there is not a lot of difference between any two cars. The degree of refinement is different, but they do the same thing. You operate the same controls to get a similar result. You can be taught to drive a...

    Doing it Left

Pete, I have to disagree with you there. I am not arguing that everyone has to dive BP/wings, but if you and your buddy have the same set up, you will be a safer team, given that attitude and awareness are the same. You never did answer my question though; if you have a class with Air2's and...

    Doing it Left

The next time you sit in your car, think about how standardized it really is. Other than paint, shape, and comfort/performance, you're looking at a very standardized model. How else could all the morons on this earth drive without killing themselves and others?? :D :D
