Oh, this is going to be good

Not really. If the seal leaks, and you don't know it, the saltwater would not be flushed out of the regulator when it was cleaned, it would stay in there and start to corrode things, right?? I have trouble being confident with the seal on the Apeks, it doesn't have any o-rings, just that...

    Sunto Dive Manager

My Set up works fine, but... I have one dive that is out of order with the rest of my log. Can you move a dive to a different field on the same chart, and can you change the dive # for that dive? Example: dive #11 s/b dive #2, how do you do that??

    Apeks Hose Protectors

Put a pair of extra hoses in your save a dive kit, and you will never have to be running around trying to borrow a hose from someone before a dive. Whether 1/2 or 3/8" size, you should have your own back up hoses, then the port size isn't a problem. Regarding DIR style hoses available from my...

Oh, this is going to be good

Just curious, what does the inside of a sealed first stage look like if it starts to leak, and you don't catch it for a month or so, because you thought you had a SEALED unit??

Do the PST LP 104's really weigh 45 Pounds each?

You just have to keep telling yourself "It weight almost nothing in the water..."; as you are working out at the gym so you can carry your rig to the waters edge. Why do you think technical diving requires being in good physical shape?:D :D :D

    Outside air temperature?

Water and air are the same; 48 degrees! Could be better, could be a lot worse.

What's your honest opinion? [No debating allowed]

Now for something a little bit different. If civilization had not embraced the internal combustion engine (car engines) the way it did, if we had discovered a different source of fuel, those people over there in the sand would still think the guy with twenty camels was the richest man in the...

    Smoking and Diving.....?

That's the truth, if you have a pack a day habit and quit, you have a good chunk of change available to be buying diving equipment. After a year, you could have a nice HID light, a BP/W, ... . ; and that's if you are only smoking one pack a day!

    newly certified

Like Ben said, Back up reg around neck with necklace on a 22-24"hose. Primary reg. with a long hose(7 ft.) that you donate in air sharing situations. There is tons of info about this if you do a search.

    Backup Mask?

If you've got room in your pocket for a mask(and you should) then you should be carrying one. Imagine this scenario: you are shooting bags at 40 feet, and someone has an errant fin kick that knocks your mask off, there it goes, floating out of reach, and definitely out of clear vision, down to...

    Dry Gloves

Hey ColdH20Diving, I am using the neo DC gloves in Puget Sound without the liner and they are comfy. My hands haven't been cold since I got them (although it's been a pretty warm winter here) If your hands get wet between dives, they are still warm once you put the gloves back on. I had a...

    Got narced hard today!!

Being narced mellows you out, like being drunk. Your breathing slows down, then you get a problem with CO2 from not breathing properly. Paranoid, etc... are signs of excess CO2. But... maybe your reg IS funky, have it checked out.

    Dry Gloves

Diving Concepts rings and gloves. They work well. Their website describes how to assemble the system; 2 different ways, depending on whether you want wrist seals or not. I have the neoprene model and like them.

    Are you still imperial?

Oh, We're talking about building houses. My mistake, I thought this was the SCUBA board and we were talking about metric vs. imperial as it pertains to DIVING! If you use metric, you don't need to use your fingers and toes to count.

    Are you still imperial?

Metric is logical, the whole base 10 thing. No calculator needed to figure things out. In the darkroom, I measure metric, in the kitchen it's imperial. Diving is easier in metric, when it comes to math. I have tried diving with my gauge set to meters, but I keep trying to convert to imperial in...

    What about freshwater fish ID?

The sunfish(which includes bass) and salmonoids(trout,etc...) have pretty good coverage, you know, like fishermans centerfolds! It's those little sticklebacks and baitfish that baffle me. I have fished for too many years to not be able to ID freshwater gamefish. Speaking of aquariums, I used to...

    US Divers Calypso history

Wasn't that before Rod Stewarts debut? I'm going to have to dig up some old pics, 'cause I'm thinking my calypso might of had that feature, it sounds familiar. Funny, I remember my buddys Scubapro Mk.7 with the audible reserve warning better than my own set up!

Where does buckle go on harness?

Part of the idea with DIR is that you can progress to different levels, and all your original equipment configuration stays the same. The buckle position becomes an issue when using a scooter. The crotch strap will go side to side as you cruise, if the buckle is on your left side, the crotch...
