My brother recently completed his Open Water I believe with SSI.
Blind since birth, he's not let that stop him from trying various activities.
What I find surprising is that he was told he still required the Low Vis / Night diver class / cert to dive with his dive shop.
Entry strobes and...
If you get your luggage checked all the way through, and have the time in the morning of you layover take the opertunity to try some of the local eateries an shopping... nothing like Sim Lim Square in the morning topped off with a good Blackpepper Crab
The difference between Atomic and ScubaPro is significant... Atomic service is every two years or 300 dives vs ScubaPro's required 12 months (+- 1).
While cost is always a factor, the service times and ScubaPro poor enduser support is the deal breaker for me.
To me the clock is still...
I just got my ScubaPro mk25s and S650s back from annual service....
Service that took 6 weeks!@#!@# While I can't blame the manufacture for the poor service at a vender the fact is I'm still waiting for the return of my Galileo Sol which was sent back to SB for some unexplained reason. Since...
If you dive 10 times in the first year you paid for your gear by buying it outright vs renting.
After that 1-2 dives a year covers the service vs rental.
Peace of mind knowing your gear form, fit, and service record? Priceless.
After the basics: Fins, Mask, wetsuit
I'd look for: BC, and...
Reading between the lines of the OP:
1) Person is going to do the dive
2) Person has heard opposing view and still #1
Since you haven't talked him out of it... what has him talked into it?
What is at 134' that is so interesting?
Is this just an ego trip?
Is he trying to make himself...
Stayed at Fantasy Island in Roatan, and Scuba Club in Cozumel....
They were two distinctly different type of diving and I enjoyed both.
If I had to choose one it would be Cozumel and Scuba Club again.
The dive operation is top notch and the food was far superior:
eat dive, eat dive... nap...
I too dive with pickup buddies quite often after a couple bad experiences I chose to become alf sufficent. While having a buddy is preferable as a social activity if he chooses to be anti social under water I'm fine with that!
This was the third year in a row for the event and I must say it just keeps getting better.
Silt wasn't nearly as bad as in years past, strange given the number of people turning rocks over *GRIN*
The staff did a fantastic job of keeping things safe and on schedule!
No small task when you...
Good advice above.
You should also be sure to file the QA with PADI as that's a direct threat to the business.
If you aren't getting at least partial refunds you might want to file a complaint with the BBB and the local Chamber of Commerce.
Finally, there is small claims court which can be...
Looks shouldn't enter into the equation, unless your worried about an open casket.
I use the same regulators:
Same maintence schedule
Same costs
Same breathing feel
A downside is they have the same potential "weaknesses"
There are plenty of valid reasons for or against.
