    D1 cold water reg set

I recently purchased a d1 set for my O2 stage, this morning I finally got a chance to test it out.Took a fresh water dive in my back yard. At the surface it was 82 while below the thermal it got down to 41 degrees. Spent 30 minutes above and below the thermal swapping regs with my MK25/s650...

No preference to the agency, just the proper course.... looks like IANTD Technical Diver Course is what you'd want.

    Maximizing depth AND time under

True if he keeps pushing deeper... however, it should be possible to go shallower and thus burn air faster than NDL

    Maximizing depth AND time under

Hey, your discussing diving so it's not a waste... the issue is understanding the goal to help find the solution. When I dive my semi-closed rebreather, like you I'm always on the surface with gas to spare thanks to NDL.... there's no way to beat it without going into deco . #3 is closest to...

    Maximizing depth AND time under

Air Integrated Computers such as the Galileo monitor remaining bottom time based on NDL and actual gas usage for the current dive. So while it's true they don't use SAC, they go one better. From the manual "The RBT (remaining bottom time) is the time you can spend at the current depth and still...

    Maximizing depth AND time under

So your example of max depth was 120... 32% Nitrox would do the trick. The problem you have is the NDL is a fixed limit regardless of how much air is in your tank. Exceeding NDL and going into deco is always an option just not recommended without the proper training. BTW part of that training...

    Maximizing depth AND time under

Trick? It's just math, no tricks A dive computer will allow you to adapt your profile and be a bit more flexible then tables. If the goal is to extend NDL, use Nitrox. If the goal is to surface with an empty tank, use a smaller one. Or do some air sharing and let you buddy stay longer

SAC rate question (Um i mean another SAC rate question)

Cardio is always a plus, but physical size is a key factor too. Why even get into an air race? Dive a large tank, or take two! Was it a new dry suit or your first time in one? If so, your SAC could be high just from the extra stress. Best advice I was given in training... if you get a...

    New Pony Bottle!

The butterfly clips are a potential issue with hangups. It's too bad that vendors still sell them as part of kits without a discussion of the issue. As for buddies being easier and cheaper, it's just not always true and off topic... he's already gone the pony route let's support him and...

Advice needed about a rental tank leak.

Any one can call a dive at any time.... If a leak bothers you, then calling the dive is the right call. In this case: taking the tank back to the shop, tell them the problem and getting a new tank is a reasonable course of action.

    Buoyancy AHHH!!

It's like a weighting issue but I bet there's more at play. As the tank is drained of air, it gets lighter that's true... but this means you go up not down, so you tend to dump air or pop to the top like a cork. The trick is to be weighted for the end of the dive, not the beginning... and that...
