    Shore diving locations near/within NYC?

So I know there's the popular dive site near Beach 8th Street in the Rockaways, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of, or has any experience diving, other shore diving sites around NYC, especially within the 5 boroughs. I read some tales of diving near Ft. Totten, Queens in the 90's and...

    1997 Deep Dive/Shark Attack.

Is this the story you're looking for? Certainly one of the craziest things I've ever read. Note: won't let me quote the whole story since it's so long. Check it out on the original thread.

Sherwood Triple Gauge Consoles and others?

I use one of these... Cressi Mini Pressure Gauge Seems to work well and is super slim and lightweight. You can easily tuck it in a pocket or a cam band. They make it in a three up console as well. It doesn't feel as solid or heavy as say a Scubapro or Sherwood console, but it was pretty cheap...

... support for my CooToo (edited)

Ironically, because of this thread, the CooTwo is now showing up in my ad banners! Too bad there seems to be so many issues with these. Love the idea of an affordable, all in one, O2 and CO analyzer.

DSLR Underwater Camera Settings for Divers

True, but they specifically recommend Adobe RGB in the context of printing. In my experience, RAW formats need to be exported to another format such as TIFF for printing, so recommending a color space in this context is applicable.

    Subsurface 4.6.4

Just a standard Perdix. It's having no issue pairing, just not sending the command to download dives.

    Subsurface 4.6.4

Just had the opportunity to try the new release yesterday. Overall, I found it works like a charm. Only issue I had was importing dives from my Perdix. Couldn't seem to get it to work. It would pair, but the Perdix would show waiting for cmd, and the software never downloaded the dives. Ended up...

    Long drive with O2 bottle

Yup. Was a paramedic for many years and always kept a bag of medical supplies, along with a tank of O2 in my trunk. Never had any issues, even in hot summer weather. That was a D size aluminum tank that held 425 liters at 2,200 PSI, so somewhere between a 13 and 19 cf pony.

    Dutch Springs

Fellow odd scheduler here. Off every other Monday and Friday. There's a pretty good group of us over on divebuddy. You should post there whenever you're thinking about going. Just this past weekend I was able to meet up and dive with two guys from that site.

I was attacked by a GW shark

Pretty clear from the video that the shark got stuck in the kayak when the it flipped over. Looked like he freaked himself out and swam off. Glad this played out the way it did. What an incredible situation though. I would not have been as calm as this guy was, that's for sure!

Anyone going to Dutch Springs this weekend for the Expo?

I'll be there. Excited to test out my new Semi-Dry and check out the vendors.

    Considering OTS Full Face Mask

Very cool. Do you happen to know of there are any upcoming demo days at Dutch Springs?

    Considering OTS Full Face Mask

Oh wow. That Spectrum looks really cool. You've got my attention. Does it have a surface air valve option? Can the standard OTS comm options be used with it?

    Deep Six Outfitters Eddy Fin

Any idea if they would fit a size 10 sneaker sole type neoprene boot? Size 11.5 US normal sneaker. The website has me thinking I might need an XL. (@cerich ) Edit: corrected my boot size

U.S. Shark Fin Ban - beneficial or detrimental to conservation?

I always love when people try to argue that a ban like this will negatively effect the livelihoods of a small, select group of people. As if society as a whole should prioritize the well being of a tiny fraction of the population who has chosen to make their living by decimating the population...
