    Wedding Rings and the Ocean

We take them off. Me mostly because sometimes it starts to get loose, my fingers must shrink. She because the rock is as others point out likely to get caught on something. And who needs to worry about something expensive, sentimental, and not necessary while diving.

One dead, one missing (since found), 300 foot dive - Lake Michigan

They've now named the victims as Susan and James Winn. I hope nobody here was close to them. There's are lots of photos and videos of them diving with rebreathers on deep wrecks. It seems they were quite accomplished divers. In another article it says Susan ascended rapidly from 300ft.

Snorkeler Killed by Sharks in the Bahamas

It was also reported locally that she was swimming with the swimming pigs. If true you have to wonder if the Sharks have learnt about an easy to get pork snack and mistook her.

Do you have specific advice for posture and anatomy as it relates to trim?

The "correct" trim is the correct trim for the circumstance. You don't always have to be perfectly horizontal, however generally it's the most efficient for swimming forwards and the position you'll see skilled divers diving in a lot of the time. As to your description of trim, I don't like the...

    Looking for O2 regulators

Yep. THe attached has the full specs for anyone curious. No dramas happy to help. TFM engineering do lots of stuff - the one thing I will point out is that their current continuous flow reg only has a single output, the DAN reg has dual if you think you might ever have two victims.

    Looking for O2 regulators

OP - are you trying to use a scuba reg, or a medical demand reg? I you are looking to use a scuba tank for continuous flow O2 for resus etcz OP - what are you trying to achieve here? If it's to use O2 as a deco gas, just get a O2 cleaned reg to fit to a scuba cylinder. If you want to do...

    Shearwater Teric or Perdix?

Back to the OP's question for a minute, I had to make the same choice and ended up going the Perdix. The larger display, and the easy to change batteries pushed it over the line for me. I've been stuck on a live-aboard before thinking I was going to miss dives because the F'ing computer decided...

    Master Scuba Diver Course

Theres an article about a student on a "master scuba diver course" who ran out of air. The lady forgot to swap out her half empty tank and didn't realise she was low on air until it stopped flowing. Obviously gas management wasn't part of that particular "master diver" curriculum....

    Malapascua vs Sipadan vs Similan

I guess I saw a very different Sipadan in 2017 then. We dove 4 days out of 5, so were quite lucky with the permits. I think every single dive was amazing. From barracuda storms, rays, turtles that wanted to come and say hello, even a school of jack fish so big it literally blocked the sun and...

    Love:Hate relationship with Compass

The Icon digital compass is next to useless IMHO. I have a classic wetnote conversation on one dive where we got horribly lost and were arguing about how to get back. We worked out that the wifes Icon and mine, which we'd checked pre-dive were now pointing about 90deg out from each other...

Care of latex seals - KY jelly ?

You can get bulk KY pretty cheap. A local liveaboard uses it so I looked it up.

I wonder if in part it is due to the average always-rents-gear diver having their octo in a different place every time they dive?

    Depressurizing plugged first stage

I've had a HP hose come loose several times on a 1st stage when pressurised. Apart from a pop, hiss and needing a new o-ring, nothing bad happens. The opening on the HP port is tiny, you're not going to get enough air-flow to send the whole tank spinning. Besides, once the o-ring is clear the...
