    parts for life

Please call the "new" shop and have them verify your gear is, indeed, entered in SP's database. We've had a few that had been regularly serviced but, somehow, didn't show up when we checked. Fixing that isn't easy and takes some time. It can be done, but it ain't no fun.

New to Nitrox - Do I need to buy an O2 Analyzer?

A disclaimer: we sell them. That said, I can't tell you how many times I have witnessed a divemaster(s) rushing people to get ready and in the water including analyzing their cylinders. Yes, they have an analyzer or two and they ALWAYS tell you they're calibrated because they don't want you to...

    Future of DiveShops?

AWAP, I would officially and publicly like to invite you to visit one (or both) of our stores. It's obvious by your constant LDS bashing that someone, some time, done you wrong. I'd just like to be able to show you that we're not all evil... Mark p.s. I feel your pain. Had there been a decent...

    Future of DiveShops?

Well, we started our shops because we were tired of the "same old same old" we seemed to experience almost everywhere. That, and our wives told us that, while we had retired, we sure couldn't just hang around the house all day. I've found this thread to be enlightening, confounding, confusing...

Why aren't more people taking up scuba diving?

I think aliens have as much to do with the habits of divers as wives do. I mean, I do know a lot of husbands and wives (and their kids) who dive together. And I see non-diving spouses enjoying umbrella drinks, local culture, shopping, reading, etc. and not accosting the diving spouse when they...

    Peeing in wetsuits

I thought that, if I were to pee in my wetsuit, I'd most certainly die. I think I read that here somewhere...

Can I have a free copy of your book too, Jim?

    Punta Cana

Yup, what they said. PC's ok if you want to lie around a pool and drink--not that there's anything wrong with that;)--but the diving's down south.

    Troubling incident in San Pedro

Well, if they're going to pull PADI flags from all the dive ops in San Pedro that violate their "standards" and, in particular, go to the Blue Hole, we'll soon be down to zero (or damn close) PADI shops there. Not that I care. Nearly all (note: nearly) of the dive sites off AC also exceed 60' in...

Roatan vs (San Andres+) Providencia - End of year? (1st week of Jan 2014)

So Doc, you don't care for that 40 mile surface swim?;) You know, it's like a lot of things. I'd never again fly on the same airplane I flew from Roatan to Utila and back...twice. That thing was a dive site working on happening. You can catch a flight from San Pedro Sula (DO NOT LEAVE THE...

    Zeagle Covert or Wicked

Weight shapes really do make the difference. Just curious, but I only use mine as a warm water BC, thus less weight required. Maybe it's just me (and I don't do much cold water at all) but I think I'd opt for my "heavier" BC's for colder water. I guess it's just a matter of taste/choice. And...

Roatan vs (San Andres+) Providencia - End of year? (1st week of Jan 2014)

Guanaja. Beautiful reefs and coral, waaaaaay less people and not really much more difficult to get to than Roatan, or Utila--which I'd choose over Roatan. All my opinions, of course, but I only go to the Bay Islands to dive. Looked at going to San Andres and Provedencia but all the reviews I've...

    Spare Air to Shoot Fish

I know a guy who used to run a few spear fishing trips (on scuba) every year. Most of those dives were at 20 feet or less, yet he required all divers to carry spare air. I really never understood that. Oh yeah, he did sell those things.;) We don't sell them. I just don't care for the concept...

why hasnt nitrox replaced compressed air completely?

And that's the number one reason I like it. I don't dive deep without a good reason so toxicity's not an issue for me. Any way I can load less nitrogen is a plus in my book.

    Domain TryOutDive.com

Did I win the bidding yet? I've been working up some concept stuff for snotface.com. I wonder if I could get a package deal for that and b*tth*le.com? I'm losing interest in the tryoutscuba thing and may just have to flip that one. And yeah, before you get started, I'm fat.

OK, I'm in the bidding. $9.96 for TOS (hah, take that scubamarketing she-devil :D;)) and .95 for snotface. Genuine US cash money, bub.
