Jenn..I use my debit card on Bonaire all the time and have never had a problem but it is drawn on a local bank, MCB. I note you indicated "BB & T" I assume you mean RBTT? If so they are local on Bonaire so you shouldn't have any problems. If not, I can't answer your question.
Ronscuba..What I have found in diving Bonaire's waters over the last 25 years is that things always change (except the fact that Bonaire has great diving). So what we see on one trip may not at all be there on a subsequent one. Just my personal observations.
Bottom line you certainly can not...
I was kind of wondering about the genesis of why you felt the need to use the caustic title you did on this thread. I guess now I understand it. You apparently have an axe to grind. Stealing from tourists is a hobby? C'mon, get real. You really do the people of Bonaire a great disservice by...
Excellent & thanks for posting, According to some on this board there has been a massive decline in the fish populations. Doesn't look that way to me. ;)
Your logic ignores the fact that throughout history mankind has eradicated species of food sources which are deemed to "taste good". The fact that the Lionfish is tasty and great for consumption will go a long way in diminishing their numbers. Lionfish derbies seem to me to be a great way of...
Just incredible isn't it? You can't make this stuff up. Some folks just think they know everything and love to get up on their soapbox to proclaim it to the world.
However more often than not, they generally proclaim something which I suspect they'd rather not. :shakehead:
Fuhgettabout AT&T or Verizon!! The cheapest option to call home from Bonaire is using SKYPE. Nothing beats it, (assuming you have an internet connection where you're staying)! Bring your laptop, a headset & you're good to go.;)
Ed & Liz..Best wishes to the both of you as you go through this ordeal. I hope the docs at Duke can work their magic on Liz. She will be getting excellent med care there.

Well, I guess as the song says, "we just disagree".
I just got back last week from a 3 week stay on the island and certainly did not in any way shape or form see "a massive decline in fish populations".
And, by the way I've been diving the reefs on Bonaire since 1985.
Ummm mitridate.. Care to CLARIFY what type of fishing you are talking about? Rod & reel fishing is NOT a prohibited activity.
Spearfishing is.
Poachers??? That word is applicable to taking a protected species. What species are we talking about? Sounds to me like your posting is a mere diatribe...
Viz was sucky??? Just returned last Sat from 3 weeks on the island. I dove the southern sites & Klein. Had 80 foot viz on the southern sites & at least 100 out at Klein.
How do I measure viz? Vertically is the only accurate way I know. If I'm at 80 feet & can clearly see the surface, I mark that...
rydog..my general advice is to pick a dive op based upon where you are staying. Generally speaking they're all good. Because of where I stay, we use Buddy Dive @ Belmar. Great operation plus free nitrox. Never had any problems. Enjoy your trip..
And by the way, only 7 days for us before we...
Generally I find I enjoy viewing the topside photos much more than the UW ones. And only 9 days for us before we touch down on our favorite island in the sun!:D
